Do not miss this place!

We were so pleased to find this wonderful little spot set back on the Public Beach just outside of Puerto Plata. The location is wonderful, it is right on the beach (chairs are set in the sand), it's just perfect! The food is very good (the parrot fish is superb and the empanadas some of the best... read more

Well over priced, for a real enjoyable time leave the resort area and go on the malicon to any of a number of little beach front bars that are very reasonably priced, my suggestion would be Big Lee's or for those who do not wish to be adventurous go to the back of the little community that is beside the... Le Petit François is geared towards Canadian travelers, and staff speaks French as well as Spanish. There is a decent menu, but it's rather expensive. We had the Croque Monsieur, which was open faced and very good; as well as conch with vinaigrette sauce, which was all right, but not great. Service was friendly but a little careless (empty ketchup... More

Its a cool spot being hidden away at El Pueblito. I live in POP part time so I've been here a few times. The drinks are "meh", but the food is decent. I like that they have "skin on" French fries which is different from most (or all) places in Puerto Plata. A bit overpriced, but nice and quiet.

Three of us went for their langouste, one had the surf and turf. The langoustes were not very tasty and the steak was a disappointment. For USD$40, we expected a lot better. We did not stay for desert. The staff were very nice and the location excellent.

This little place is run and frequented by French Canadians. It offers Dominican food thought, and Dominican booze including Presidente. I had a really great mufungo with beer and some great French fries. It is in the sand and on the beach. If you want informal with a great view and good food, you cannot go wrong.

Hispanola Restaurant, a perfect 'beach shack', is location on Playa Dorada beach. It is run by a Canadian man and his very pleasant Dominican wife. You cannot go wrong with the food choices and pricing.

This is a legitimate "on the beach" restaurant/bar with average seating, food and service. having chairs in the sand can be annoying as the legs sink and getting up can be a chore. The ocean view makes it worth it.

Located on Playa Dorada beach, just off all-inclusive medium to low key hotels, lies Hispaniola Restaurant, that thrives on selling fast food including poutine to hotel guests tired of boring oodle salad buffets. Nice setting, beautiful view, OK food, but hey, you're in a bathing suit, away from it all. At night, they offer an expensive lobster special, about twice... More
