What is a "Caribbean Sandwich" ? First, they like melted cheese, so the sandwich is hot. They put green tomatoes and meat (mainly pork). There are several variations but essentially, this is the format. You can buy this in Cuba (I guess?), Puerto Rico or Dominican Republic. Barra Payan is an institution, they have a very delicious melted cheese sandwich.... More

This is truly a local spot, went there after couple of beers and their sandwiches are just awesome, really nice variety and pretty cozy spot in the middle of SD. Go there, you'll like it!!

Very traditional point in Santo Domingo! It is open 24 hrs and you can get fresh juices, variety of local sandwiches and some sweets. Place opened since Trujillo was on office and has always since been a traditional local spot to go. Good prices for juices and snacks. G.Val

We have been to this restaurant many times and love it for its cheap eats qualities. We went there after seeing Anthony Bordain's bit about it on his show and had to agree that it was delicious. However, the last time we went there we all got food poisoning and were not happy campers. We haven't been back yet to... More

Since my first time there I have a very good memory from this place. Sandwiches are inexpensive and tasty. The service is promptly and the dinner style place is not that comfortable. There is not parking lot and no restrooms. When you take the first sip of one the many different natural fruit juices you will find out how good... More

This is a place that is opened 24 hrs. Sandwiches are good, the have an ample variety. But the best is the "fruit shakes" done with fruits and Carnation evaporate milk. They are the best in the island! Kudos! If you want to give it a try, order a sandwich of "Pierna" (pork) and a "batida de lechoza con Ca".... More

A grab and go sandwich place. An urban myth amongst locals. Established and serving for many years before and after your nightlife hangout.
