Wonderful dining experience in the oldest city in the Americas!

I've been traveling to Santo Domingo since 1988 but have never dined at Angelo Restaurant @ Plaza Espana (it also wasn't around back then) in the Colonial Zone. A friend invited me to this beautiful restaurant. We shared the pear and nut salad (can't remember the exact name) then I had the... read more

It was our last night in Santo Domingo, and we wanted to have a final meal out. AFter looking at the menus for the places alongthe strip on the Plaza de Espana, we chose Angelo because we had not eaten there before. The hostesses were very friendly and welcoming, I wish my review could be on them only, in which... More

Enjoyed a leisurely lunch at Angelo's drawn in by the shady tables and breeze in the garden setting facing the Alcazar. Excellent service by the maitre d' and waitresses in their red blouses. For a refreshing drink, order the frozen lemonade. it comes in a cocktail glass with a cherry and it a zesty fresh lemon frappe - totally delicious.... More

This was one of the worst dining experiences I have had. The waiting staff were aloof and inattentive. The food was pretty poor, totally bland and not authentic. I had to ask for black pepper and the waiter did not even offer my husband any. The best thing about the place is when you leave. Overpriced- avoid!

Was very nice to sit outside with a view of the Alcazar all lit up. Menu had a good selection of Italian specialties. We had the carpaccio for a starter and it wasn't very good. For main course the seafood risotto was good. Service was friendly.

Staff was not busy, one other table, young diners. It didn't' take a rocket scientist to figure out why we were being ignored, we were older. 3 drinks, 1 appetizer,$39.00. Food was great, but if you are older and want to overpay, this is the place.

I had visited this restaurant a year ago (Estimation) and had a pleasant experience (Both Food Wise & Service Wise). This present experience was deficient (Also both Food and Service Wise). Specially service lacked of preparation, as they did not fully understood all the menu's options. Keep in mind that since this restaurant is strategically located in a touristic spot... More

Excellent pizza, jar of Sangria, and perfect expresso as at the end. Piece of Europe far far away. Even if you are here for local specialities you will appreciate this place. Not only b'cos of food that is very taste but also due to the fantastic service and good location.

Went last Sunday evening with visitors from out the country. The plaza is always vibey and full of atmosphere. Unfortunately they are busy doing some construction work and the cars now pass around the inside of the plaza, right in front of the restaurants, it kind of spoils the ambiance a bit. That said, the light display and the Coca-Cola... More
