Brilliant band. Superb service, English speaking drop dead gorgeous servers. Huge portions, excellent food, you can watch the chef cooking from your table.
Wonderful lunch. Wonderful People. The food was tasty and well presented and portions were so big, we couldn't finish them. Soup, Salad, Main Course and Dessert, worked out to be $25.00 in total and we left a $10.00 tip. If I were in Varadero again, I would definately visit this restaurant again.
We came across this restaurant quite by chance- and so glad we did. We decided to hire a taxi to take us to Al Capone's place and then for a walk around Varadero- then hunger pangs took over as it was lunch time- and we asked to go to a steak place that we'd seen advertised...but when we told the... We stopped by looking for la Gruta. Just wanted a light lunch ended up with a 3 course meal. Food and service were great. 2 people full meal was under 20 pesos.
This restaurant is one of the warmest memories from Varadero trip. We were so sick from the hotel food that started to explore around. We came prepared and checked Kiki's ( be ready to breath with the disel exhaust there and stand waiting for 30 min), Gruta was closed until dinner time (it works as small bar until 5PM), so... More
So many people travel to resorts and complain about the Cuban food. What you don't realize is you have to get OUT of the resort to experience real cuban food and La Campana is a perfect place to do it. Its in a beautiful location and the service was good despite the waiters not knowing much english so it definatly... More
Liked the food, liked the place! Disliked women's bathroom having backed up toilet. Disliked the long wait for food though people on Cuban time in Cuba are more relaxed with time and haven't seen many wearing watches.
Chicken & seafood was good, excellent black beans & rice- cheap!! Staff speak very little English which travelers have to remember as the staff are not indifferent- it helps to know some Spanish - such as agua- water (: very importatn after walking for a long time
We took some time way from the millions of gift shops in Varadero to walk in the park, paddle in the paddle boats and listen to the cuban quartet play popular cuban tunes. The Campana restaurant was a pleasant surprise. The atmosphere was warm and cottagey. There are a dozen tables, half on the porch outside. The gilded era decor... More
Read the reviews and decided on La Gruta to get a change from the mundane hotel tucker. Both of these restaurants are in what used to be a private estate before the revolution. They are situated in Park Josone between 56 and 59 streets. The park is a safe place as we were escorted to the public washrooms there by... More
