Lovely State-Owned Restaurant

There aren't many, and this is a nice one! Quite large, with an extensive menu as well. The food was very tasty. Music, of course, and a wine cellar with interesting selections.

If you say Cuba, you say Beans, Rice and Chicken. You just can't get around it. However it will come in different qualities throughout Cuba. At El Aljive they serve the best succulent chicken combined with bean stew that is just delicious! so even if you are no fan of beans and rice you just have to try this, it... More

Our tour group had lunch here and everyone agreed the black beans and rice were the best we had...and we had plenty. The service could have been better, not sure they really enjoyed having a large group (25).

Wonderful meal and service. We were told by our guide that this restaurant has been run by the same family for generations even though it is owned by the government since the Revolution.

This restaurant comes from a second and third generation of old restaurant management, even its a government run restaurant, they know what they are doing, limited but outstanding menu, please go for the typical menu, white rice, black beans, roasted chicken and secret sauce, timeless and still the best in Havana

This was the best meal I had in Havana. The tiki-hut theme seemed more Hawaiian than Cuban but it just added to the overall pleasant ambience. Chicken is their specialty, and it was served with black beans and rice. It was succulent and delicious! I had the coconut ice cream for dessert which was amazing as well. They also have... More

The ambience is really cute. It provides a nice shade during the hot days. The portions are gigantic and delicious. Try out their chicken with rice, beans, potatoes, salad and some stuffed, breaded semi sweet things.

Is one of the most amazing restaurants in Havana. Great staff and the food was delicious, the place was clean and you will receive a good attention even if you have special requests.

Yes, this is a lunch stop for tour buses, but it has a lovely open air dining room. The chicken it is known for is really pretty good. Some locals seem to be there, but most when I was there were speaking English or European languages. The chicken is served then the wait staff serve rice and beans. You can... More

A nice family run place, the setting is quite nice, very friendly/professional staff. The food was ok, I felt it was a bit bland, I've had better! The beer was cold though 😎 Very reasonably priced food/drink. Couldn't find anything worth complaining about Would recommend Many thanks. Neil and Lewis
