My wife and I made sure we took a cab here specifically to have the pollo asado. As advertised - afterwards, you'll think and talk about it, and maybe even try to recreate it when you get home. The place is big, mostly outdoors, caters to plenty of bus tours, but seems equipped to handle everyone. When we got there... More

Went with a tour group - Cubaball! We weren't the only tour group there. But it was quite good, and the wait staff was fine.

So this is a government owned restaurant, not a paladar. The service is ok, but not great. I think the food is quiet good. The chicken is juicy. The rice and beans are fantastic. While I might not go out of my way to eat here, if you're in the neighborhood it's a great choice.

Terrible service. I knew the minute we were seated that this is a government owned restaurant. Waiters were completely uninterested in our presence. All standing around yawning, looking terribly bored. Clearly no one had a vested interest in the profitability of the running of this place. Wine list is extensive, but no one had a clue about the wine. No... More

A great place to eat, we loved everything we ordered and some of us are picky eaters! A nice atmosphere and lovely people. A must try if you want to eat out while in Havana!

Don't expect a fancy menu or ambiance. Expect Cuban food that tastes great and friendly staff who will provide all the refills you'll want. The chicken and gravy here were probably the best we've tasted in Cuba.

I used to travel to Havana-Cuba quite on bit on business during 2000-2002 - probably every other month for 3 days. On EVERY trip, we always went to El Aljibe one evening for dinner, and for good reasons: 1. Great local food.....although I just confess I always ordered the same thing - chicken with red beans and rice, the house... More
