I've been to cuba 3 times now.. 10/12 and now july of this year.. eaten at this restaurant enough to know the quality of the food is not the same, and not because its gotten better.. but rather the chicken is dry and being this their house specialty, than they should try to make it and keep it as good... I have visited El Aljibe on several occasions and I always decide to order the chicken, rice and 'frijoles negros' (black beans in tasty sauce) which is the dish that has made the restaurant popular. You can eat all you want for the same price and the staff seldom lets you sit with an empty plate for more than seconds.... More

Had I found this sooner during my trip, I would have insisted on visiting again. I still think of this place sometimes when I crave grilled chicken. The restaurant offers a lovely, comfortable open air dining room and an opportunity to taste traditional Cuban food at its finest. Do not miss this one!

The chicken is fab! So moist and served with a wonderful gravy. Of course beans and rice too:-) We had a platter of appetizers that were fried, and very tasty. Potatoes, yam and something else unknown:-) Dessert was guava ice cream with caramel sauce. YUM! The only distraction was that the restaurant has the look and feel of Hawaii. Go... More

This is a most pleasant restaurant with thatched roof and open sides. Their chicken is outstanding, especially when served with black beans and rice. Our group found the service excellent and friendly.

This restaurant is quite large but offers average food. That is not to say it is bad, just nothing to write home about. Within a short walk from the restaurant are a number of embassies with great architecture.

Excellent food! The chicken was GREAT! Severed family style with rice & beans. Music entertainment was very good as well. In a very nice family neighborhood. This paladar knows how to do it.

This is a government run restaurant catering to large tourist groups. In spite of this, the food, especially the chicken is wonderful

Another staple in Havana! It's been there forever, and although there are lots of new restaurants and paladar es to try, El Aljibe hits a home run every time! The juicy chicken in it's "secret" citrus sauce, and unlimited rice and beans! My mouth starts watering when I think about the beans. They are the best! The vibe is festive,... More
