Description: El Templete is a bayside restaurant. This restaurant is named ofter neighboring landmark built in 1928 that marks the spot where the settlement of San Cristóbal de la habana was founded in 1519. Originally opened sometimes between 1928 and 1931, it was the second restaurant in the city to have this name, and soon became the favorite of sailors, ahip captains and port pilots. Known since the 1950s as ¨The house of shellfish and international cuisine¨it was famous for its lobsters, shrimps, prawn, clams and delicious paellas, served while customers took in the splendid view of Havana.Today, El Templete revives its seafering tradition in the same atmosphere and continues serving delicious dishes prepared by its excellent Spanish Chef.Past and present come togetherto offer us first-class service and a wide variety of dishes to choose from.

only ate 2 starters but they were excellent - shrimps in garlic and broken eggs. Drinks (mojitos and cuba libres) were ones of the best we've had. waiter was friendly. A little expensive.

Rated as one of the best restaurants in Havana and also, by Cuban standards, quite expensive. Most of the food was disappointing to say the least - a Shrimp Cocktail was just a small pile of shrimps on a plate with a small dollop of standard sauce. I had the grilled squid which was tough, rubbery and inedible. We finished... More

Mar 23 We held our farewell dinner here on the terrace. Unfortunately, it is not an attractive terrace with its awning and abutting the crowded public sidewalk. The management told us not to place personal items, eg, cameras, purses, on the table's edge because passerbyes have known to swipe items off the tables. Plus being next to a busy street... More

Dear Customer. We appreciate your feedback on the site to share with our visitors. You went to this place as part of a group with a menu that we offer to our travel agency, at least that's what the menu description it says. Regarding outside noise due to the proximity of the cars, I think it is inevitable due to... More

We had heard both good and not so good things about this restaurant and I have to admit that I had second thoughts when we arrived. Location is not the best. However - we were positively surprised. Food was great - the seafood paella was just perfect and the service was quite good as well - especially considering that this... More

We were strongly recommended to go to this place by our hotel concierge as we desperately wanted to eat fish and fresh seafood for lunch. As we were visiting the castle in this area we decided to try it. We had a salad and some little fried squids for starters and then a seafood paella. The starters were OK, but... More

Located in a historical building by the harbour minutes from the Plaza Das Armas, we had an excellent Paella. Lobster, shrimps and fish in very nicely cooked rice, rivals and Valencian paella. This is an upmarket destination for Havana but modest compared to European prices. A full meal with beer for two at 68 CUC. Note that the paella for... More

Our guide book suggested this as one of the best seafood restaurants in Havana. We were obviously unlucky, although the food was OK, the service was poor and we chose an evening when there appeared to be a very large tour party dining. We found the indoor dining room rather soulless and overall, were disappointed with our evening.

Seems to have split opinion. Ours was that the seafood was excellent and very tasty. Win we chose was good value and the service we received was attentive despite the large parties that were there at the time. Would recommend for the food even though the views are not as good as some of the other restaurants available.

I went to this restaurant as it had star rating in the Lonely Planet- it was horribly overrated. I had a seafood dish and the seafood wasn't at all fresh and was all very overdone in a bland sauce. I choked it down as I was hungry and had paid 14 CUC for it, but would rather had left it.... More
