If you're looking for a quiet, elegant lunch or dinner, this place is definitely NOT for you. But if you want a buzzy (ok - noisy) place, cramped wooden benches and tables but with good fresh food, large portions, reasonable prices and friendly service then head over to El Chanchullero. There is none of the copious amounts of rice or... More

Not the small plate tapas that we're used to back home, that's for sure. What you get here is hearty and cheap food (including cheap but succulent, fresh lobster) in a small restaurant that has a great atmosphere. The mojitos are also excellent.

It's always difficult trying to find good restaurants or places to eat when you're in a new country. I was recommended El Chanchullero by the owners of the Casa Particular where I stayed during my time in Habana. Initially I couldn't find it, there's no signage outside so you only know you're there once you have stepped inside. You won't... More

Three excellent main courses and a few beers for 22CUC - all enjoyed in a friendly, cool atmosphere. You may have to queue for five minutes and sit with strangers but that's all part of the charm of the place. Food and service are great and the cocktails pack a punch - the only place we went to more than... More

Our casa lady recommended El Chanchullero and it was one of the best food experience in Cuba. Small lively bar with European atmosphere and good music. The food is cheap and really great! Lobster and shrimps with pineapple were my two favorites. Although the place is rather busy and we had to wait every time we came, but it's def... More

The food was served quickly and the drinks were excellent. The lobster was better prepared than at the expensive government restaurant. The music was a surprise- I did not expect to hear blues in Havana, and although this was recorded, it was excellent.

Sadly my girlfriend and I found this little gem at the end of our Cuban escape. The food was fantastic, the cocktails were even better. The service and music make it stand out from many of the other places around this area of town. Although there is no live band this place has a great vibe! I proposed to my... More

We came here for lunch one day and due to a shower of rain we ended up staying for a couple of hours during which time many mojitos and beers were consumed between us!!. We had a plate of food each and shared a dessert. The food was very very nice and the mojitos excellent. We were surprised to recieve... More

We've been sent to this place by the owner of our casa particular in Havana. This is not a typical Havana restaurant but i liked it, it's like an european\north american pub with rock music, walls covered with things written from the guests and a welcoming environment. You can have chicken, lobster, or pork based dishes, everything is very tasty... More

had to wait fifteen minutes for a table but sooooo worth it. Had three mojito each and a shrimp tapas plate each...gorgeous food and ambience...bill was 21 CUC! Couldn't believe it as mojito so strong and delicious. Lots of locals which is a good sign.
