This is a funny place. At least they are honest, and don´t have the double menu practice. If you don´t mind overpaying for food, go and order the lamb, if they have it...and the shrimp are nice too. The place is the best part as it is located on the rooftop of a relatively high building, giving it a spectacular... More

We visited at lunchtime as part of our full day tour. Private restaurants are appearing all over Havana and this is in an apartment at the top of a residential block. It is very stylish and modern. We had three courses, all very nice, with drinks. I can't comment on price as it was included in the price of our... More

If you are staying anywhere near the Hotel Nacional, Habana Libre or Capri, this paladar is in the epicentre. Great place for dinner before heading out for a night of Jazz at La Zorra y El Cuervo. The staff is extremely attentive and professional. The food is consistently good and the menu quite varied.

We booked as was always busy, out of 3 dishes only my wife's fish in garlic sauce was any good. I had fish in a white wine and parsley sauce with clams, it looked beautiful but tasted of nothing, literally nothing, it came with 4 pieces of thick sliced potatoes and 2 of them were inedible as uncooked in the... We had booked this restaurant by email from UK, they had our reservation and it made for an easy first night in Havana. We were sat on the terrace and it was just perfect. The food and service were very good. I know reviews say this is for tourists but i'm struggling to understand why that is a problem. Highly... More

We found this restaurant in the DK guidebook and our Havanatur guide also mentioned it so we thought we would give it a go. Having worked out where it is from the Hotel Nacional de Cuba, we set off on foot. Not an easy task! This restaurant relies on word-of-mouth advertising and does not even boast a name on the... Cafe Laurent is on the fifth floor -- ignore scary reports about the elevator -- it is fine! -- of an apartment building. The gauze curtains move in the breeze and give a feel of being at the beach. The help is incredibly lovely, and the food is beautifully presented and delicious. HIGHLY recommended, especialliy after a long day of... More

Booking was essential, we made it for lunch as evenings were booked up. Lovely setting, overlooking the sea with a cool breeze on a hot day. The cocktails were delicious, and the main courses tasty, which is not always the case in Cuba! I recommend the risotto with clams. Plates were presented beautifully. Try it...

Paladares in Cuba can be quite basic, but Cafe Laurent is more like an upscale restaurant than a home-turned-eating-place. Think white tablecloths, well-prepared food that is as much Spanish as Cuban, a multilingual waitstaff, and a rooftop view of the neighborhood. Go early in the evening to avoid crowds, and be sure to reserve ahead of time. Try ceviche and... More
