Eclectic place

The best table and a must place to visit for local food restaurant lovers. A visit to the bar on the top roof is recommended. Watch your step and look around to every detail on the entrance door, the Carrara stairs and the balcony on the second floor.

What a stunning location! We loved walking through the old building to the restaurant and sitting in our own little alcove. The decor really made you feel as if you had stepped back in time and the service was very good. Our food was cooked very well and the fish tacos were amazing. We didn't realise beforehand, but there is... More

This restaurant is in a ruined building so don't be put off when you step inside. You need to go all the way up to find it. The decor is a bit strange but makes sense somehow. The food is very expensive but it is worth it - it is just delicious. We had tuna in a coconut and shrimp... More

I've read several of the July, 2015 reviews and agree with all of them. Our food was excellent, great service, a bit crowded, offputting entrance but worth the effort. Very sad to see a beautiful building in such terrible repair, however there was a scale model of what appeared to be proposed renovations. Our guide made reservations the day before... More

This restaurant is a taxi ride away from the old town but worth the trip and you have to listen when you get the same tip from two different fellow Australians. An unpromising entry, up a couple of flights of broken marble stairs and then there is the welcome surprise of the restaurant. A series of rooms make up the... More

I booked via their website months in advance for a balcony table and I got it, which was great as it seemed quite noisy inside and we got the cool breeze too. Food was excellent and the bill was reasonable. I'd definitely recommend a taxi to and from the restaurant as the surround area felt dodgy to say the least.... More

Arrived by bicycle taxi to see a run down entrance on a rundown street. There was a moments hesitation before we left the taxi. The guide book and our amazing Parque Central Hotel Concierge team recommended and booked this place for us so it couldn't be all that bad surely? We set off up the crumbling once palatial steps past... More

This is probably the most memorable restaurant I have ever dined at. The outside seems to be in quite a run down street, and the building although beautiful with a marble staircase is also run down in parts, with washing lines on the landings up to the top floor where the restaurant is and crumbling concrete. Please don't let this... More

La Gaurida was a very welcome break from the generally low standard of food in Cuba! The steak and fish fillets were excellent as was the duck starter. The foods more expensive than average but there's no mark up on the tasty cocktails. The building itself is stunning but the once lavish interior is in need of serious restoration which... More

The building alone is worth the trip -- but the food is good as well. One of the two best dinners we had in restaurants in Havana.
