We couldn't believe our eyes when we finally found the building that housed this restaurant

We had to work our way past old men carrying bags of sand or cement, up a steep stairway to the second floor with loads of sheets (or probably table cloths) hanging out to dry and finally, gasping we made it to the third floor and walked into magic. The restaurant was closed for the afternoon but... read more

On the third floor of a building that you might think is falling down, this is a true gem. After climbing up the old wide marble stairs, you enter a charming restaurant divided into smaller rooms. The food is just fantastic. Our group had ceviche, smoked duck salad, suckling pig, beef tenderloin with three sauces. Great choices for wine. There... More

It's Cuba, hold all your international standards not to feel frustrated. This is a beautiful spot, great for taking pictures and brag about your trip to Cuba. The problem is the food. It took us exactly 3 minutes from ordering to receiving our dishes, like microwave food. The chicken was tasteless and the fish was not fresh. Unless you are... More

La Guarida, in some ways, summarizes Havana -- the potential in decrepit older buildings brought back to life with talent, perseverance and friendliness. You wonder what the heck you've gotten yourself into when you enter the decayed mansion and ascend a staircase with a rickety (and useless) handrail and portions of the marble steps missing. Wood scaffolding keep the first... More

You need to book this restaurant for obvious reasons as I believe it to be the best in Havana. Finding it is not easy. It is not in a 'good neighbourhood' so travel by cab as wandering the streets in this part of town is not recommended. The building is a surprise. You enter into what appears to a be... More

La Guarida is located in an old and part down fall house. When you enter the place you might be thinking "that shall be restaurant?" - but yes, it is. As soon as you passed the marble stairs you will find a cozy but busy restaurant with good food. Don't miss the terrace with a great view over the city!

What a beautiful building and beautiful setting. The staff were so friendly and the food was so fresh and tasty. The best part for me was the lemon pie, omg so good. We had to wait a bit even though we had a reservation but was totally worth the experience. And this restaurant had hands down the nicest bathroom in... More

Went there with a bunch of friends who know Cuba. What an experience. The building in which the restaurant is located is a typical old derelict Havana building with heavy Spanish influence. Wind back the clock 50 years and you can see a beautiful private home with exquisite decorations. Now, it is battered but beautifully battered. In desperate need of... More

Learned of this restaurant from Conan O'Brian's visit to Havana. It is highly rated on the internet and after our visit I can see why. The building is a rundown mansion but if you can climb the stairs to the third floor a charming restaurant awaits. Interesting memorabilia adorns the walls. The service is great and the food is authentic... More

booked solid in advance so we were only able to arrange lunch for the next day. Little wonder celebrities dine here; food and service is SUPERB. The tenderloin is exquisite; tender and with gourmet sauces (including chocolate); can't rave enough about this place that had phenomenal food and incredibly beautiful ambiance. Book reservations!!!!!!
