Great dining experience

On arrival we thought that we had come to the wrong address since the restaurant is up three flights of stairs in a semi ruined hallway, but it was well worth the climb since the place has a warm and cosy atmosphere with lots of old prints on the walls, etc. Also the tables are spread across... read more

From the moment you arrive at the door and start climbing the stairs to the restaurant, you know this is going to be a memorable night. The building is a mere shadow of its former glory, but exciting and beautiful. The service is excellent and the food is delicious and beautifully done. We were part of a culinary group with... More

We rode to La Guarida in vintage Chevy taxis as part of a culinary tour of Cuba with a well known Cuban American chef. Arriving at the restaurant in a very local neighborhood, the walk up to the third floor up the derelict staircase was an adventure itself. The restaurant is amazing, beautiful chandeliers, large windows, cool art and a... More

Returned to La Guarida in February with a group of 25 or so international co-op leaders and again had a simply delightful evening in this icon of Havana paladars. Pre-arranged the menu and seating and everything was purr-fect.. The wait staff could not have been more professional, and all my guests were oh-so -impressed with Guarida's yummy menu (their chefs... More

25 minutes walk from the Santa Isabel hotel in the old town through some very dark and uneven back streets. I would suggest that most visitors will come by taxi but we wanted to explore the 'off piste' parts of the city as part of our evening out and it was fine. The restaurant is on the top floor of... This restaurant had been recommended to us by a friend, and it did not disappoint. We ate there twice. Possibly slightly too popular now as very busy and service a little slow at times.

Its an amazing revelation...you walk into a dilapidated apartment building with the ceiling falling in and a beaten up stairwell. Families are living in apartments through-out the old building. But, on the 3rd floor, is a masterpiece. AS soon as you walk in, you are transported into 1950's Habana with excellent Cuban food and atmosphere. Very good fish and chicken... More

We visited La Guarida for our anniversary. We walked from the old town and wondered a few times whether we had gone wrong as it is in fairly rundown area. The entrance is very unprepossessing and looks more like the way into a warehouse. 2 flights of stairs eventually lead into the restaurant and suddenly everything changes. The atmosphere is... More

Went there with my husband and friends. Food is delicious and innovative. I had lobster for starter and main, very good and the price was also excelent for the quality of food and service.

If you are a foody in Havana, this is a must. If its dinner you want, you may have to book before you leave the UK. Yes it is that busy. Try to get a table on the outside balcony area, but you will not be disappointed if you are inside. We had lunch there and the experience started outside... More
