We walked to the place from the malecon. Alone that walk was already an experience because the neighbourhood is more for locals then for tourists. You see people as they live. We almost felt a bit intruding into their lives. The restaurant is very popular. The food is better than average, almost fnatastic but not quite. Comparing to the average... More

The restaurant was recommended to us by several friends as the best in Havana. It is in the old part of Havana much of which is being renovated to its colonial glory. ThLa Guarida is located in an unprepossing street in a building that looks as if it was hit by a bomb. However going up to the second floor... More

A great dining experience. The venue is stunning and the food is decent. There is a rooftop bar at the back with good views.

Excellent food, shabby chic setting, friendly service. Extensive and interesting menu. Seats in the hall look onto the kitchen!

The only reason that this doesn't get 5 stars is that 50usd/head is way too expensive for Havana. Otherwise the staff is refreshingly professional, the surroundings are great and the food is fantastic (in a city where finding good food is a challenge to say the least..)

This excellent restaurant is located in the setting of the 1994 movie "Strawberry & Chocolate", one of the Cuban movies to publicly deal with the gay scene on the island. A topic that happened to be a taboo became more accessible to the general public as time passed by...

This was one of four restaurants we had dinner at during our visit to Havana and the one I would say was the best of them, although they were all pretty good. As with all of them they were privately owned and only take cash. It is just as well there is a sign outside as otherwise the sight of... More

Four of us just returned from Havana. The entire trip was amazing and La Guardia was one of the highlights. We enjoyed it so much we ate there twice. It should be viewed as an experience, not just a dinner. The location of the restaurant, the initial feeling you must be in the wrong place, the mysterious ascent through an... More

My husband and I went to this restaurant after a recommendation from a gentleman in Toronto. The location is in Centro Havana (not old Havana) which is an exceptionally poor part of the city. The old mansion the restaurant is situated in is typical of the rundown building you find everywhere in Havana. We arrived a few minutes early so... More
