I have visited this restaurant before and sat upstairs before they installed the glass balcony - superb view of the Malecon - but this time I was with a large group of friends so we were shown to a table downstairs. It's a very attractive space and feels very 'Cuban'. The staff were charming and reasonably attentive but the service... More

After not the best first experience, I had another chance to visit Castropol again. This time, I was able to enjoy the location, giving you one of the best sunset views you can find in Havana. Ask to be seated on the balcony upstairs to have this chance. Service was very attentive and friendly and I recommend to go for... More

This restaurant on the Malecon looks like a snack bar downstairs but the real gem is upstairs. The upstairs room has a fantastic glass balcony overlooking the Malecon (great for watching the sunset) and has white liner/chair covers for a special feel. The food is great Cuban/Spanish (try the Ropa Vieja) and the house wine is great. Book and go!!

We're recommended that we eat here by a fellow passenger on our flight to Havana and was not disappointed. We were lucky enough to get a balcony seat offering great views over the Malecon. The menu was impressively large and varied. Food that we had was all delicious, the best we have in our three trips to Havana, all served... More

fabulous views up the malecon make an evening meal here muy romantic. The waiting staff are friendly and helpful, explaining dishes new to me. Drinks were fine, well proportioned and a decent glass of red wine. Food was overall very good. The only strange thing was the presence of two tuneless trombonists sitting across the road on the sea wall.... More

If you are staying in Centro Habana you should plan a stop here. The neighbourhood is gritty as the Malecon is still being restored but this is an oasis among the broken buildings and only 2 long blocks from the Prado. There are 2 menus for upstairs and the main floor. Great selection for the vegetarian, amazing items from the... More

In the Malecon area, excellent restaurant with Cuban and Spanish flavors. In particular, fish dishes are exquisite. Try to get a table on the balcony in the 2nd floor.

We had a great dinner with local Havana friends on the upstairs patio during sunset. The food was very good; the views during sunset can be spectacular.

Went there twice on a recommendation from our host, Alain, Casa Malecon. The first time we ate downstairs and were a bit disappointed in the paella. Next time we ate at the very elegant setting on the upstairs terrace. Had octopus in a red wine reduction and pork chops in a balsamic reduction. Delicious food, beautiful presentation, excellent service. Definitely... More

I think this restaurant has been cursed by its inclusion in Lonely Planet - we were expecting a relatively cheap Spanish restaurant, but were disappointed. I think it has recently been renovated so that now upstairs is quite formal dining and has a mixture of Spanish and "international" dishes, while downstairs is less formal and mainly Italian. We ate upstairs... More
