This place is a Cuban standard of great tasty food. Cuban families come here for special occasions like birthdays and other important dates. The prices are really good and the food is very tasty and reliable. The drinks are good but strong. The stained glass windows are fun and there is often live music/piano. Paella is a dish to be... This restaurant, on the junction of calle 21 and calle K in Havana , looks very good indeed. There are silk covers and pink bows on the chairs, plush curtains and the menu is well printed, featuring quite an array of dishes, including lobster. As it was lunchtime, my wife and I did not want a lot of food. She... More

Having been at our hotel for a few hours after a nine hour flight we were keen to sample a local restaurant. We stumbled upon La Roca. Our Spanish is minimal but we recognised a few words on the menu and decided to try it. We were seated right at the back of the restaurant under the air con which... More

The restaurant is just a three block walk from the Hotel Nacional. It was recommended by our Friendly Planet representative and six of us went for dinner. We were told the food was excellent and plentiful and that Cubans frequent the restaurant. We were not disappointed. The food was very good. In fact, we had so much food we could... More

Loved the sixties style decor and the pianist (with his wife sitting quietly next to him). Food was great and for a restaurant with a comparatively upmarket feel, very reasonable prices. (Extremely cheap of course by British standards). Great fish, particularly wonderful malanga frita and the most vast plateful. We had to take some home. The ice cream is also... More

La Roca is an uncomplicated restaurant with honest and cheap food, as the many locals regularly eating there can certainly corroborate. It looks like a club from the outside, while the inside is a bit dim and with a very quaint decor. Service is attentive and although none of the waiters we got spoke english they do make an effort... we were at the hotel nacional and LA roca is just 5 mins from the hotel. At first even though I had read reviews I thought it was a night club, stick with it is a restaurant. Used by locals and tourists alike, gargantuan portions and cheap, 3 adults with drinks equivalent of £32! Yes 32. We ate here twice... More

I find that in life you sometimes can think your right but on reflection you realise that you have been a complete fool (polite term). I dined at La Roca with my partner and had decent service (possibly a bit slow). When we ordered our drinks it “got lost in translation” as my partner ordered 2 for 1 Pina Colada... More

Classy inside, piano player and magician for entertainment, large portions of flavorful food. I recommend the enchilado de camarones. Walking distance to hotels in Vedado.
