MY FIRST DINNER IN OLD HAVANA

As part of our group visit, we were invited to this restaurant for our welcome to Havana dinner - and it did not disappoint. The setting is the beautiful St. Francisco Square basically the center of old town. What did I expect for my first taste of authentic Cuban food. Boy what a menu.. Cuban... read more

We did not expect to see such a formal atmosphere in a state operated restaurant but were pleasantly surprised that the food and service was excellent. They have a more casual adjoining restaurant if you want something less formal. We dined next to the Ambassador of Slovakia who was entertaining a group of business folk upstairs. It was more casual... More

We had a great meal on our last night in Havana. Having driven across the country from Santiago De Cuba ..the food was excellent...the ceviche...octopus...sea beam with salmon stuffing was well prepared. Decent wine selection...Chilean Malbec was decent and VFM. Attentive staff. Formal but relaxed...meal for 5 cost CUC 165/- ...considering average meal for 5 on Obispo cost CUC 60/-... More

Slow service and very mediocre food in a wonderful setting. Fine if you are looking for a place with air conditioning for lunch as we were. Live music and white gloves service. Be prepared to wait. Took almost an hour to get our first course.

I ate here about a year ago with a large group (upstairs) and it was very good. Returned as a single in May 2015. It was not crowded at 19:30 and I was seated immediately (it did start to fill up about 20:00). I had only appetizers the first of which was a pumpkin and carrot soup which was delicious.... More

A bot too 'posh' inside for us but sitting outside with cocktails or wine is a delight. People watch as the sun goea down over one of the prettiest plazas in Havana. Excellent selection of cigars.

The restaurant sits in the beautiful St Francisco Square in Old Havana overlooking the square and the magnificent Basilica Menor de San Francisco de Asis. We went in the evening with friends and sat upstairs. The staff, food and ambiance never fail to impress and with an expanding menu (Cuban, Latin American & Global cuisine) on every visit (this was... More

The building in which the Cafe is housed is beautiful and very well restored. Our hotel concierge recomended us to ask for a table on the top floor, however the restaurant couldn't accommodate that as they said they had a large tour group booked, which was fine. We booked the ground floor instead. When we arrived, not only were there... More

Best fillet steak ever - tender, perfectly cooked for my taste and terrific value for money. Crepes suzette and baked alsaka flambeed at the table - de rigeur - whats not to love. Can't believe that the Oriente is not higher in the ratings table.
