Great coffee, great views of the plaza, slow service.

Excellent, would give this 5* but service was a little slow ordering coffee. We had a coffee which had brandy, cream and cinnamon in (if I remember correctly) which was delicious- gave us an opportunity to watch the world go by on Plaza Vieja which was charming. The café had great décor, too... read more

As prevalent as coffee is in Cuba, buying beans to bring home some memories is difficult. Even the locals agreed. It's probably that most coffee is sold in the government markets as part of their monthly rations and not much is sold in stores. But I was determined and rewarded with very freshly roasted beans (whole or ground) in 250... More

Terrible service. I was told off loudly in front of everyone in the restaurant for asking for a cushion from another table for my chair. I was told that I was only allowed a cushion if I moved tables to sit in the shade. Waiters very rude in general when we were ordering. I wouldn't go back.

Service there is a nightmare. Rude waiters/waitresses. Service takes forever if they remeber your order. A lot of flies flying over your order on the tables. Strongly do not recommend.

I was there a few days ago and they did not have beans to sell. Someone else told me they do not roast on premises any more. Does anyone know? I did find a couple of places in Varadero: I bought fresh roasted in the new Marina & I was told I could get fresh roasted coffee at calle 54.... More

This is my favorite coffee shop in the world, and my favorite place in Havana to rest and people watch. Try the chocolates with a cup of Cafe Cubano or Cafe con Leche. If you want to take home some Cuban coffee, get it here (but bring along a ziplock bag because the paper bags usually break).

I always try and stop for a coffee here when in Havana Vieja and always buy my beans here to bring home. They have only 2 small roasters in the corner and pack all their fresh roasted beans by hand in brown paper sacks, so QUEUES of 30 minutes are usual with the longer ones on weekends. HINT: Bring along... More

This is my second time on El Escorial, the first time,i recognize that was full of people, and I believed the bad services was product of this. Yesterday on my second visit to El Escorial, that by the way are located in a very good place on La Habana Vieja, perhaps we were about 5 people in place, and the... More

This place is located in the Plaza Vieja, and it's very lovely. Their prices are very reasonable. Excellent Cafe Con Leche and very good desserts. They also sell their own roasted coffee at reasonable prices. Get the milkshake - very good!

Located in one of the most beautiful places in La Habana, La Plaza Vieja, this place offers a lot of options for having a nice coffee just after lunch or just take a pause on you walk throughout the city.
