Great Cafe, great location, poor service.

Great location, we had a great coffee experience in Cuba, loved my cafe americano with warm milk (lecce). However, service was very poor, had to call waiter three times to put and order. Restroom is free but you need to pay 25-50 cents for toilet paper. I would highly recommend regardless.

We were delighted when we found Cafe Escorial after a few days we were able to get a decent coffee. Unfortunately the influx of tourists recently has led the staff to start secretly overcharging customers. We would have been back every day but after being over charged and having to chase for the correct bill it left a sour taste... More

If you're looking for your coffee fix; look no further than Café El Escorial -- best coffee in Cuba! We came across this spot when we were in Havana six years ago and returned happy to find little has changed. Beans are roasted on-site daily and beverages like Café con leche are consistently good. You couldn't ask for a better... More

We went here for dessert and after dinner drinks and the service was horrible. I had to constantly remind or signal the waiter and he would often lie to me and say that they were closing or had run out of desserts. I would then see other tables served by other waiters getting desserts. It has a nice atmosphere I... More

Went there for a coffee and dessert, waited 20 minutes and asked twice the menu, finally we ordered coffee and cake. After other 20 minutes cake arrived (disgusting!), coffee never arrived, so we left after 50 minutes. Location is nice, service is ridiculous, do not bother trying this place.

Do not visit if you are in a rush and unless you get great service please don't tip or they will never learn. After 3 weeks in Cuba the waitresses here were by far the worse we came across. You need a good hour and a half to have any hope of getting a coffee followed by a bill to... More

Best coffee to buy and bring home. We have been enjoying our cafe con leche at home ever since. Nice decor, great service at the coffee counter.

Owner of the place were we staid (Sergio and Miriam) told us of this place that they have best coffee in Havana so we went there and bought coffee for souvenir gifts back home. Coffee is fresh baked and made in front of you and they prepare you in their bags as much like you want. While waiting for long... More

One of the best cafes in Havana. A big cafe in Plaza Vieja. You can buy croissants, sandwiches, different types of cakes etc.. The food varies a bit depending of the day. Service is just painfully slow; even in Cuba waiting for almost 30 minutes to get a check is too much. Go to this place when there is a... More

Café el Escorial features outside tables near St. Francis Square. The drinks were good and reasonably priced, but the service was completely dismissive accounting for an overall poor rating. Try a coffee spot on the other side of the square.
