Hm... What to say... Great band, great cocktails, great location, great interior... But... They are ripping tourists off! We received a check stating only the total without the breakdown. As it was much higher then expected we asked for explanation. Mysteriously, perfectly English speaking waiter suddenly speaks only Spanish... After a discussion (and we can barely speak Spanish!) we realized... More

Two years ago friends and I enjoyed our nights at Bar Monserrate. This past week I stopped in with my family. The band was ok. When the check arrived I was shocked at the cost. I asked the waiter to show me a drink menu. He changed a few items but I was still ripped off to the tune of... More

This used to be our favourite afternoon stop off in Havana. It has become a rip off joint and the once vibrant music is a pastiche of its former self. Avoid at all costs m

This place is central but I would not recommend this place to anyone! We were a group of 13 and the waiters were quick to take in our group. It seemed reasonably priced and as it was getting on late on Friday evening we thought why not. The music (live) is good but super loud. Many things we asked for... More

Well you can't have everything. The bar looks nice and there was a decent cuban band playing when we visited on Sunday afternoon. But the food was the worst we had in Cuba (and that is saying something). The burger was utterly inedible, avoid!!!! Beer taste watered down, and the price at the end was 17 CUcs which was 5... Although this seems to be a popular place, the music was so loud we had to shout at the server who took our orders. I ordered only Buccanero beer and it took a long time to get my order. The food order was confused and we were brought the wrong food. Not a place I would go back to with... More

The music is great, the atmosphere ok, but everything is spoiled because of the prices they charge. We should have read other reviews on Tripadvisor before going to Monserrat, because a good number tells you the same story. They give you a phony bill and most probably cash the difference with the actual prices themselves.

We went for one drink late at night when there weren't many places open. We were charged 39 CUC for 4 drinks - when we questioned the bill (we were expecting it to be around 12 CUC!) we were told they accidentally added drinks from another table and it should be 29. Still too high, they then said they made... More

Mojitos at 4.5 CUC... Though those were excellent, it is unacceptable to charge that price on the bill while they should have been at 3 CUC (we noticed that later, on another day). A real shame.

Just of the Central Park area is this gem of a bar. Great selection of beers and spirits with a good selection of cigars at a reasonable price. What this place excels at is the music, sit back relax and take it in, wonderful. This is as close to Cuba as a tourist will normally get and it never lets... More
