I had read about this restaurant in a traveling guide. We were walking the city and found ourselves in front of it, so we went it. Great idea!! Great food, very quiet in a nice courtyard.
Lebanese restaurant on the Calle Officios. Has a nice courtyard, with trees, yelling parrots, enough shade to have a pleasant stay. The food is good: nice couscous, tajines, or big vegetarian meals. Some spicy, but all nice tasting.
I can only say that we must have visited Al Medina on the chefs night off. We looked forward to going here as we had heard so many good reports regarding it. Well there was not a drop of atmosphere in the place unless you included the parrots that continued to screetch throughout the night, no music, nothing. Even the... More
I was stuffed after eating here! Lovely veggie mixed platter- tasty, filling and just what I needed after lots of walking around Havana. Chef came out to see if I liked it, waiters polite and quick with drinks. Courtyard peaceful and sunny, lots of little birds singing. The platter is a mix of hot and cold stuff and that was... More
After almost a month in Cuba we went looking for something different and something with a little more spice than we had been getting. After a couple experiences of less than acceptable service on Obispo. We were in the searching our guide for something different. Just a half a block from Obispo off the Plaza de Armas, but a world... More
As a vegetarian, I had a very hard time finding a decent meal in Havana - restaurants catering to tourists tend to serve bland food and are very heavy on the meat/seafood. Al Medina saved the day a few times. The vegetarian platter includes a huge variety of dishes, and whoever's in the kitchen knows how to season them well.... More
This great little Arabian restaurant just a half block off Plaza de Armas in Old Habana has been a favourite of mine for a decade. Lovely open courtyard interior with Modejar Moorish architecture (or you can sit indoors), good food and great prices, affordable wine list. Start with appetizers of hommus, fatoush, falafel and kebbie with pita bred. Then move... More
For us this is the best restaurant in Cuba. Wherever we went, the food was the same and after few days becomes really boring. I had enough of red snapper for the whole year :) Al Medina was such a surprise. We were so used to getting average/poor food in restaurants, that here, our eyes couldn't believe how beautiful the... Eating here was really enjoyable after finishing a tour of Cuba and eating nothing but fried chicken and rice. Combo plates are excellent value.
Great to find somewhere different in Havana, with this Arabian retsaurant, where we ate twice during our stay. The mezza platters (also available in veggie option) were superb, if very different from what you'd get in the uk. The lovely courtyard setting was relaxed, with plants and vines growing around the cobbled centre. There was live music from the waiters... More
