I love Bistro J, the food is consistant and though some find the chalk board menu limited, I've heard they share a kitchen with Port O Call so you find that the chefs will make you anything you want and the staff are lovely. Does get a bit noisy when it's really busy but it's worth it for the cheesecake... more

Caveat - I have not been since the rennovations. Prior to that, this was one of my favourites. Simple chalk board menu and you still struggle with what to choose. Food quality always very good. Be warned try to avoid sitting by the door or at the bottom of the stairs. It's a small restaurant so this can bere annoying.... more

Not our first by any means and certainly not our last visit to this consistently good restaurant in the centre of Hamilton. The not excessive choice, clearly written on chalkboards, gives one the confidence that whatever is ordered from the fresh Bermuda fish to strip steak will be just right. There isn't a view but the food makes up for it. The seafood is delicious and the staff are very pleasant. The bread is also very good. more
