Henri Charrière, one of the world’s most famous prisoners, would surely have had the time of his life at Papillon Restaurant in The Village, across from the Radisson Resort. Nicknamed Papillon because of the butterfly tattoo on his chest, he was the first convict to escape from Devil’s Island. Charrière’s thrilling, gripping autobiography has been the concept behind Papillon Restaurant.Papillon Restaurant’s menu reflects the Frenchman’s arduous journey to freedom: classic French dishes have been dusted with daring Caribbean flair and are a culinary journey for your taste buds. The spacious outside terrace is perfect for casual fine dining or one may enjoy the air-conditioned inside dining space.

Good vegetarian food but small portions

This is a nice location, not on the water, but with outdoor seating and nice ambiance. It's easy to get too right on the Palm Beach strip. We go to Aruba almost every year and the first evening and last evening of our trip is reserved for dinner at Papillion. It is consistently excellent, very romantic atmosphere, great service, and the menu is always diverse and delicious. The staff is very friendly, the service is excellent and the owner goes out of her way to make us feel... We had a nice dinner with a good service. The food tasted good but was not much different than of other restaurants. The nice thing of this restaurant is the location, for those who would like to enjoy the nightlife afterwards.

The restaurant serves quite some veggie meals which is pleasurable for those among us who don’t eat meat and or fish. We started with a very nice onion soup and and a Manzana Sweetbread For dinner we choose the Aspargus Medley and the vegetable tarte. Must say it is a relief that the choices are rather extensive so people don’t... More

While we were walking around like two lost fools we came across this little place just as it was opening. The small table vendors that set up in the square in front of it were just arriving too! We were glad we happened to arrive early as by the time we left there were people waiting to get into the... More

I'll admit it - - I have pretty high standards when it comes to food. Papillon exceeded them. Especially for an island. The restaurant is cute from a decor standpoint, and our servers were efficient (the waitress was not warm, but very capable. The busboy was friendlier). But the highlight was most definitely the food. I started off with the... More

We had gone to Papillon a few years ago and remembered a positive experience. This time, we left very unsatisfied. It wasn't the food, it was the wait. We arrived at 7pm and ordered a cocktail, then ordered our entire meal shortly after. Everything moved pretty slowly, and our entrees showed up after 8:30!! What is most important to me... More
