Description: Henri Charrière, one of the world’s most famous prisoners, would surely have had the time of his life at Papillon Restaurant in The Village, across from the Radisson Resort. Nicknamed Papillon because of the butterfly tattoo on his chest, he was the first convict to escape from Devil’s Island. Charrière’s thrilling, gripping autobiography has been the concept behind Papillon Restaurant.Papillon Restaurant’s menu reflects the Frenchman’s arduous journey to freedom: classic French dishes have been dusted with daring Caribbean flair and are a culinary journey for your taste buds. The spacious outside terrace is perfect for casual fine dining or one may enjoy the air-conditioned inside dining space.

We visited this fine restaurant last month, the outdoor patio is a wonderful place to eat your meal. Great food, and outstanding service. The manager on duty was hands on and very attentive.

We went back to Aruba in March and went to many of our favorite restaurants. One is Papillon where they serve many great dishes. I enjoyed our Friday meal so much we went back on Sunday. Both times I had the escargot dish with melted cheese on patisserie topping followed by rack of Lamb. This lamb is from New Zealand... More

Several in our group had to be dragged here since it is "french" food, but I think they are doing themselves a disservice by not being listed as "International" cuisine instead. All 10 in our group had amazing meals, the bartender before our meal was helpful in choosing a wine for dinner, and entertaining us while we waited for our... More

It was a busy Friday night when we were there, but the hostess graciously found a table for us outside. There was a bazaar going on in the plaza outside the restaurant that gave the evening a fun atmosphere. Our server, Lizzie, was bubbly, attentive, and knowledgeable. Our group had the crab cakes, shrimp salad, halibut with lobster sauce, tuna,... More

Average at best, cheap imitation of a French cooking. Cardboard quality duck liver sold as foe gras. Everything else slightly better but not by much. Total waste of money and time.

My wife and I just can't stop going back to this exquisite French restaurant. Interesting location, lovely decoration and atmosphere: a short visit to Paris while in Aruba! The food is perfect, especially the Foie Gras and the Sweetbreads appetizers, as well as the Sea Bass en croute main course. Very interesting wine list to accompany your great dinner, especially... We dinned twice at Papillon during our 7 day stay in Aruba, March of 2014. Reservations were easy to make and outdoor seating was excellent. Seabass and triple tail were well presented and delicious. Service was great and everyone was very friendly. Seating was not crowded. Only issue I could find was that patrons at a nearby table were smoking,... More

My husband & I loved it here so much that we went twice in one week. We went last year on our last night and we were so "fooded out" from the week that we just ordered light meals, so this year we went on our first night and it warranted a second visit. I ordered the foie gras appetizer... More

My husband and I had reservations, but I am pregnant and wasn't feeling well and made him cancel about 5 min before we were supposed to be there. Well, about 20 min later, I decided I didn't want to spend our last night in Aruba in the hotel room so we went down to Papillion to see if they could... More
