I'm not sure if this is a hotel or just a restaurant. The dining room is very impressive, decorated in heraldic style. The menu is extensive, covering everything from bar food to a la carte special dishes. The food was absolutely delicious - slightly unusual flavour combinations and beautifully presented - and not overpriced. We'll definitely be back!

The Red made our family Christmas.... special. The new head chef Andre Dumitresco is a talented and passionate chef with a wonderful and enlightening way of cooking and preparing food. The service was excellent. Lee, the new owner is an attentive and welcoming host. All round a thoroughly worthwhile experience. I want to say also that I wish Andre and... More

Just had the most delicious lunch at the Red Lion. I am originally a local lass to the area but for the last thirty five years I have lived in the land of good food, chocolates and beer - otherwise known as Belgium. I can honestly say I have never had such a delicious meal in Wales. I will certainly... More

Went there for a three course Xmas lunch and trimmings @ £14.95p. There was no roast potatoes,no stuffing,no pigs in blankets,no sprouts in fact no trimmings. The tablespoon of mashed potato tasted of the dried kind. Found it odd to have a vinagrette salad on our plate with the turkey & gravy!! The veg portion was barely enough for one,let alone... More

Went for Sunday lunch/ carvery. I prefer quality rather than quantity. The starter was ok. Yes you get plenty of meat and as much veg as you want. Pudding was not good. Unfortunately it was nothing special, just ok food. Won't be returning. Wished we had gone next door. Having only re opened back in June of this year I... More

We have eaten here many times in the past and were pleased to see that it had reopened this year. We booked for dinner but wished we hadn't. The restaurant was quiet and lacking in atmosphere, made worse by the inappropriate medieval theme. The food was fairly expensive but on the plus side there was plenty of it. Some of... More

Good day, Sorry to hear that you had a less than satisfactory experience. Could you please tell me what dessert you had? I will most certainly speak to my chef about the steak, did you bring the complaint to the attention of the staff at the time? The restaurant décor is in keeping with the age and style of the...
