We visited while staying in the area, we hadn't booked but the friendly waitress greeted us and swiftly showed us to our table. The service was friendly and efficient and the food absolutely fantastic. Our children had pizzas which were genuinely homemade and thoroughly enjoyed! The lasagne again homemade and the best I've had outside Italy, my husbands steak was... More

This characterful pub had been shut down for a while but it is nice to see it flourishing under its new owners. It has the advantage of having some parking spaces of its own in the pretty but rather congested village of Llangadog. It is advisable to go early though (i.e. 6 p.m. on Saturday ) as these soon fill up. The... More

Looking forward to an early lunch, we decided to call at the Red Lion Llangadog. The extensive menu looked promising, as we ordered, we were looked after by a scruffy individual, with dirty hands and even dirtier fingernails !!!! The starters were soup which was inedible due to the excess of salt -- sent back. Scallops which were beautifully cooked... More

Ten members of the family encompassing three generations ate from the Lunchtime Specials menu. The choice was excellent and between us we tried 6 different meals from the menu - all of them fantastic. Everyone really enjoyed their meals, whilst eyeing up the other options for next time. The desserts were equally delicious and very nicely presented. We were given... More

On a beautiful day, after a drive across the Black Mountains, we decided to try The Red Lion for some lunch. Lovely welcome in the car park from the chef, assuring us that we had parked okay, then we walked into the hotel to be met by the most amazing aromas of glorious food. Friendly and extremely helpful staff behind... More

First visit, but won't be the last. Food very well prepared, no waiting around, waiter well informed about menu. The restaurant had a homely feel, not in the least pretentious. Prices were reasonable and portion sizes were more than adequate, all in all a very good lunchtime experience.

First visit here, having previously visited the George in Cwmtwrch. Can honestly say we were impressed. All 4 starters were excellent, with a special mention to the taste of Wales which was sublime. The main courses were delicious, definite the best t-bone steak for miles! The atmosphere was wonderful and the staff were all outstanding, smiling even when exceptionally busy.... More

Visited mid week, very busy with just one table waitress and one bar person, but the service was superb. Both ladies were very tired after a very busy shift but were still cheerful as we left. The food was first class and not overpriced. Will certainly visit again.

When visiting friends and family its quite difficult to find somewhere good to eat. The Red Lion has recently reopened and it is fantastic! Decor is in keeping with the history of the building, plenty of choice on the menu to suit all and the service was great with cheerful staff despite them being 'a man down' on the evening... More
