To think they have pretty much a captive market, it could be soooooo much better. The menu is dull, not very well cooked nor presented. They should go and visit some of the gorgeous places nearby and plan a revamp

We ate here on a weeknight when the town was pretty quiet - there weren't many choices and we're so glad we stumbled upon this one. Delicious seafood dinner, pizzas also looked great. friendly staff, great atmosphere. highly recommended.

We both enjoyed our meals of a Pasta dish and Beef dish. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was pleasant and relaxed

We stopped in here on Sunday afternoon to have a drink, get our bearings and check out somewhere for dinner. Service was unfriendly so pleased we found somewhere else to dine!

Great spot in the sun - exceptionally friendly service and very yummy custard square, definitely a top spot in Mangawhai Heads.

Owner had signs up saying she could cater to vegetarian and vegan, and she couldn't. She didn't know what vegan meant, and got offended when we started to tell her "I know what vegan bloody means". Then she brought us food that wasn't vegan, and seemed pissed-off when we couldn't eat it. "You don't eat eggs either?" Revolting experience.

Had the seafood chowder, wasn't good, it was made from frozen seafood mix. Pasta was overcooked and too salty.

Service is friendly and atmospher is lovely but honestly, my gourmet pizza is truly the worst pizza I have had in years! Hardly any toppings at all on the Howling Wolf and a complete waste of money. I did not have the heart to complain (what do you say when it's that bad?) but I would not go back. Also,... More

We dined here twice during our recent stay in Mangawhai! Both our meals were truly great and we can vouch for the salt and pepper calamari, smoked chicken salad and fish and chips! Well done, great food and service!

this is a local gem that gets good press and deserves it. the food is excellent. the service is delightful. the owner is at your table and ready to chat or leave you to it as you like. seafood. we loved it. maybe they have other stuff on the menu as well, but we didn't have to look that far...
