Lovely light lunch with an amazing view

We visited Blackpool Sands in Devon and popped into Venus Cafe for lunch. Service was prompt and polite. Our lunch was very tasty and nicely prepared. We had a lovely view of the beach cove, almost idyllic.

Being a Devon resident I tend to avoid the main tourist spots unless in is out of season. We were delighted to find the cafe open on a January weekday morning -had a great cup of coffee and a flapjack -worth a visit with or without a dog to accompany you on the beach `!!!

My friend and I went for lunch at the Venus yesterday as reviews on here seemed pretty good. We were not disappointed. My friend had a delicious fresh crab sandwich while I had amazing crevettes. Local wine from literally up the road was also very nice as was the local cider. All prices, we felt, were reasonable. We were lucky... More

The Venus chain does an excellent job at marketing their food and overall experience. The staff are really very friendly and helpful too. However, after several visits and different attempts at dishes, the food on the whole does not reflect the outstanding marketing nor the rather high prices charged. Veggie burgers, beef burgers, vegetarian food, bread used in the sandwiches... More

We called in for a quick lunchtime snack and had a first rate crab sandwich, sitting with an open view of the beach and the sea. The service was friendly and efficient. Having enjoyed our sandwich we felt compelled to return later in the afternoon to share an excellent cream tea!

Five of us went to the Venus cafe for lunch. All food was very good, however one of our group had John Dory 'en papillote' which turned out to be raw in parts. The staff were great, their gave a refund and the option of any item off the menu. Everyone was happy, well done!

We live locally and called in after our normal Sunday morning walk. It was busy inside and out. As we walked in we were blasted by loud music and not even pleasant music. We tried to find a seat furthest away from the speakers but this was not easy. Most of the customers were middle aged so why would you... More

Great location but the cafe feels unloved and needs a good clean. It feels like it has been a long summer. children's menu is really poor with no really health alternative to chips. (Please add a mash potatoes option for younger children). Staff clearly don't really enjoy their job and it shows. Other than that the food we had was... More

Not bad food, and freshly prepared, so credit for that. On the downside, this is a sizeable business running a chain of cafes and shops on the SW cost of England. It feels that way despite the commitment to local produce. It's pricey. I like a restaurant that serves glass bottles of Coke, but £1.85 for a 200ml bottle (tiny)... More
