On the second time of holidaying in the Haut Langedoc we were determined to find this restaurant! Last year we were told of it - highly recommended - but as weather in the last few days of our time last year deteriorated horribly, we never found this place in mountain mists and rain. Today, in bright September sunshine, we ventured... More

We were a group of 5 adults plus my godson who is 14. The chef did more than his best to make sure my godson had lovely food which did entail tweaking the menu slightly...very accommodating. The service was excellent and the setting delightful. Unfortunately it was too breezy to sit outside. The storm that arrived the following day explained... More

Well worth a visit, this local restaurant with its riverside terrace has an innovative approach to local cuisine. There is some variation in quality between the courses on offer, and I suspect that this is a work in progress. Judging by its better dishes, this will become a very good restaurant when the chef has perfected his range of dishes.... More

Le Faitout is a gem of a rural French restaurant, the kind you dream of finding. We had two perfect evenings here, one a la carte and one on the tasting menu. Both were exceptional: local and regional food, handled with flair and care and great attention to quality. There were dishes of monkfish, of pan-fried foie-gras with cartagene liqueur... More

We had never eaten here before and heard many good reports, so with family visiting and it being in a good mid point, we decided to give it a go. One word of warning, this place only offers a set menu, so do check out their website before you go, as there are no alternatives, unless you call ahead if... More

We visited Le Faitout last week with two other couples while on holiday in the Languedoc. Berlou is a pretty village and the restaurant is in a lovely setting . The food was excellent and was far better than some Michelin star restaurants we have visited in the past. The owner/ chef was charming and obviously enjoyed preparing the food.... More

Le Faitout was a charming experience from the pleasant terrace setting, in a peaceful valley. The service by the delightful owners and chef who produces tasty local produce led dishes, which are interestingly and creatively presented, making for an all round enjoyable meal. We will happily return.

We discovered Le Faitout with Frederic & Nathalie last year. We had numerous visits with friends and clients and every time the experience was superb. Our first visit for this year was last week and we had a lovely sunny day, sat outside, beautiful atmosphere, excellent food and great local wine. Definitely choose their signature menu, €29 and well worth... More

I run a Wine and Food school in the Languedoc and took 10 clients to Le Faitout for lunch on Sunday. Natalie and Frederic were superb, from the first contact in January through to our au revoir yesterday, the service was exactly on the ball. An excellent menu with great wine choice in a stunning setting. The food was fresh,... More

After a wonderful morning exploring the St Chinian area, we took the time to take the winding country road to the pretty village of Berlou, first tasting wine in the village Cave, and then following a recommendation to try the local restaurant. Everything about the restaurant was a surprise and delight - superb food (we had the €28 menu, which... More
