An unexpected gem

We were driving through the village and decided to stop for a drink but could only see this restaurant..................what's the worst that could happen? Surprised or what, a gem of a restaurant hidden away in a small village. We decided to have a main course and desert. Both were prepared, presented and served faultlessly. If only we can find it... The terrace is a comfortable location and easily accomodated our group of 11. The lunch menu was 30 Euros a head with a limited but imaginative selection of choices with some fascinating flavours. (There is a 15 Euro lunch menu which was being enjoyed but not resticted to by working people) Wine list varied and we enjoyed a Rosé from... More

Le Faitout is situated at the side of the village square just across the bridge. Large quadruple sun-stand, pleasant chairs. One can eat and also have separate tables for a drink so no-one has to feel obliged. We took the €30 lunch menu, and a bottle of cooled red wine from the local cave just across the bridge where the... More

We read about this in several places so we thought we’d give it a try. It wasn’t very busy on the night we dined but the many positive reviews were definitely warranted! The food was fabulous and the dining room is very pleasant. If you order the menu you’ll get three lovely courses and bread. We enjoyed it a great... More

We were lucky to be staying just a few miles away, up the road, so eating here was a 'must do' part of the holiday. Excellent food, creative ideas for dishes, very well served by the friendly serving staff. A great wine list packed with the local wines, including many excellent wines made in the same village. The outside terrace... More

On the second time of holidaying in the Haut Langedoc we were determined to find this restaurant! Last year we were told of it - highly recommended - but as weather in the last few days of our time last year deteriorated horribly, we never found this place in mountain mists and rain. Today, in bright September sunshine, we ventured... More

We were a group of 5 adults plus my godson who is 14. The chef did more than his best to make sure my godson had lovely food which did entail tweaking the menu slightly...very accommodating. The service was excellent and the setting delightful. Unfortunately it was too breezy to sit outside. The storm that arrived the following day explained... More

Well worth a visit, this local restaurant with its riverside terrace has an innovative approach to local cuisine. There is some variation in quality between the courses on offer, and I suspect that this is a work in progress. Judging by its better dishes, this will become a very good restaurant when the chef has perfected his range of dishes.... More

Le Faitout is a gem of a rural French restaurant, the kind you dream of finding. We had two perfect evenings here, one a la carte and one on the tasting menu. Both were exceptional: local and regional food, handled with flair and care and great attention to quality. There were dishes of monkfish, of pan-fried foie-gras with cartagene liqueur... More
