Tasty Food

The pub is spacious and comfortable. Leather settees and cosy corners. However, since the sun was shining we sat outside. We had an assortment of baguettes and main meals. My baguette contained some very good bacon (thick but not fatty) and came with nicely dressed salad and coleslaw. It was... read more

We went into the Inn as it looked so good from the outside and the selection on the menu suited us. The Inn was not crowded which was another plus (possibly because it was a Monday in May). The staff were friendly and welcoming.

I had my first ever pint in the Sun Inn when I was 16 (I’d just finished my exams!) and I continue to visit every time I go to the Lake District. Converted from a row of cottages in the 18th century, the pub is a beautiful historic building in the heart of the picturesque village of Pooley Bridge. In... More

Having been to the pub for a meal a couple of weeks ago with my husband decided to take daughter and her partner on Saturday. Arrived about 5.45pm and there were only two things left on the specials board. Menu was uninspiring but decided to stay and eat. Waitress has not yet been taught how to smile and be pleasant... Having used this pub for the last 17 years it has gone down hill big time. We had a meal here on bank holiday Monday and to be honest they were not very busy, after an hour of waiting for the food to arrive the burger came with the bun covered in thick grease, the gammon was dry and cold... More

Decided to try here after some friends said it looked OK. The staff were seemed to prefere talking to each other than serve drinks! The food was not very exciting, just poor pub grub. Disapointed!!

We called in as we were staying at Park Foot Campsite. This pub is the best in the village in my opinion, as I have been coming to Pooley Bridge for many years, in summer is fantastic to sit outside on the sun with a cold pint. Food is ok, and this isn't meaning to be critical, it is typical... More

The title of my review is by no means insulting. I mean the food was just what we wanted after been blown away on an Ullswater steamer. (Lovely trip but biting cold wind). We were hungry and the food was very good. Good service and a pleasant pub.

From the outside this pub looked impressive lovely tables set outside and court yard to rear. Once inside decor was dark and furniture worn out. The lunch menu was OK I was with a group of adults and we ordered a mixture of sandwiches, salads, burgers etc the food was average but was a reasonable price. Service was good and... More
