This is the only place to eat in Pooley Bridge. The food was excellent and so good we went back again two days later. It was a really traditional pub nicely decorated for Christmas. The staff were extremely friendly and professional and the service was generally great. The pub filled up quite quickly and there was a very nice atmosphere... More

We only stayed for one night which was a shame. We will definitely stay for longer next time. The bars are really cosy with plenty of atmosphere. The bedrooms are tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. You don't need to get the car out to have some lovely walks as they are right on the doorstep. We had sandwiches at lunch... More

Me and my partner visited this pub and were pleasantly surprised. I ordered the lamb and my partner the steak. We can honestly say it was the best pub meal we've had in ages. Would definitely go back again

Stopped by for some soup to get out of the rain. Definitely worth a visit, but would have preferred the fire to be on. Very nice though.

We called in here on a damp Saturday tea time with the intention of having a drink whist perusing the menu with a view to eating there that evening. On arrival there seemed to be a few large groups from the afternoon crowd leaving so we thought we stood a good chance of a seat. Having bought our drinks, we... More

The food was lovely and the portions generous. We actually went back twice. The atmosphere was very pleasant and there are a couple of small bars you could eat in along with the larger dining area. It does get busy on so you might need to book.

On my first night in the area I visited here with my family for something to eat. From the outside, the establishment looks like a traditional country pub. I decided to order Steak and Ale pie. It was lacking in steak and filled up with vegetables instead. The chips were poor too. Other members of my family visited a couple... More

My partner and I visited this pub yesterday, they told us that all the empty tables inside were booked for 7pm and that the wait on the food was 45min. We decided to eat there anyway, but to seat outside. The food came after 10min, so clearly not so organized or welcoming either, and the tables inside were still empty... More

Wasn't our intention to eat here but after first visiting another establishment across the road that looked a bit grotty and smelt a bit we thought let's try it. Very traditional inside. Real ales on tap but I was driving unfortunately so couldn't try them. We were there at lunch time, food was simple but tasted quite nice. Would definitely... More
