A great quirky casual dining experience. Opened since 1979 it still has the same owners and the same name. It is a mix of eclectic and local island decor. The walls feature an array of photos of events, people and things. The ceilings are a collage of various types of posters etc. The Tumunu Garden Restaurant also features the "largest little notebook" on the island. Come visit us!

Awesome meal

We ate here twice on our stay in Rarotonga. The price and variety of the food and drink was very good, we have the scallops and calamari each time and we really enjoyed the meals. The cocktails are really good and loved the house named Tumunu.

With all the lights outside and the look from the road we thought we must stop in for dinner one night. Initial thoughts from walking in was positive. We did decide to eat out-doors and even with the FREE bug spray, which was a positive from the restaurant we were still dessert for the local mozzies. Food . . Well... More

An interesting place to visit. The décor is Rarotongan along with masses of every kind of advertisement from a bygone era stuck on the roof, along with flags. Not a place you’d pick for a quiet meal but more of a destination for a group looking for a good night out. We ordered the Seafood Platter for two, $80. Worth... More

This is our second visit to Tumunu and we're pleased to report that the Seafood Platter is still the best available on Cook Islands, and in fact one the best ever we've ever had. The platter has everything, including real scallops!!! fresh, huge oysters and every other type of seafood you could image cooked to perfection. Our host for the... More

The service was friendly and efficient but the fish platter was not great value or quality, a lot of the cooked fish was over cooked and tasted the same regardless of what it was. The venue is attractive - especially the exterior, a little dark inside. I would choose something other than the platter next time!

The lighting at night gives this place a deceiving outlook. On entering restaurant the interior hits you as being very busy in look and not the classy look I assumed upon entrance of premises. Food is of quality and substantial. Service was standard as our waitress was still learning the ropes,we all have to start from somewhere,so that was ok.... More

Awesome place with amazing atmosphere. Eric the owner has been on the island 50 years and he is quite the character. Lots of history on the walls. Very nice staff who come to check several times during the meal to make sure everything is ok. Normally I will always finish my main and what is left of my wife's. I... More
