The beer garden is great in summer and is always busy with visitors and locals. Definitely worth a visit if in Elie.

We walked into the ship inn and looked about for a seat two members of staff just looked at us! We turned back and sat near the door. The table was filthy! We sat for a few seconds and looked about as it wasn't clear if it was table service or not. I got up to the bar and waited... More

We visited this Elie institution for a Hogmanay meal with friends. A few pointers for the new owners; please provide spoons for soup, one cracker per person, sugar, glasses for drinks, a welcome and a smile. It is not too much for staff to know what a macchiato is ("is that the one with coffee and ice cream?") and for... More

We used to love the Ship Inn in Elie. Tonight we had tough steak, hard chips, still frozen in the middle sticky toffee pudding and mediocre coffee. The toilets were smelly, no toilet roll in one and no light working in the other. The room looked lovely when we walked in, log burner on, Christmas decorations and crackers on the... More

We visited the ship in last weekend as a family booking of ten. Was lovely and cosy, and the guy seating us couldn't do more to accommodate us. The menu had some different choices, and also traditional scottish food. The starters were very promising, however we were really let down by the main courses. One of our party had turkey... More

It was so cold in the restaurant we had to eat with our coats on whilst sitting in the room behind the main bar. We have frequented this place often but found the food disappointing on this trip, less choice than before. Staff should let the guests sit down before asking what drinks they would like.

We ate here twice during our recent Scottish holiday, once at lunchtime and as our last night treat. On both occasions the welcome was as warm as the lovely open fire in the bar and the food was well cooked, plentiful and served with a smile. The sandwiches we had at our lunchtime visit were huge and packed with filling.... More

Had a delicious mid-week meal. Being November, the place wasn't busy, but there ere enough people there to create a good atmosphere. There was a good choice of food and it was tasty. Will return.

Came for the first time last night with my family and had one of the best meals out in the East Neuk! The menu was simple but elegant, which catered for all tastes in our group. The staff were attentive, friendly and efficient. We couldn't have had a more pleasant evening and will certainly be back. The only fly in... More
