Stay at the John Muir Lodge try the specials at the Grant Grove Restaurant

We came in just as they were closing, the hostess said that the kitchen was closed for the night :( but then! The chef JT came out and said "The first customers are just as hungry and the last ones" He took our orders and served us! He was very kind and affable. We were so very hungry and there... More

No offense to the cooks and servers but the food was really bad. The hollandaise sause in the eggs benedict literally stayed in my mouth all day .. it was so bad. The people are just lovely, food seems stale and just bad. Also we had to wait for 30 mins for breakfast inspite of not many people in the... More

Good day - Sorry to hear that the Hollandaise was not prepared well and that it took so long for your food. That kind of wait on a slow morning is unacceptable - I will follow up with the staff and see what went wrong here. Thank you for taking the time to write to us so that we can... More

I admit we arrived late (7:57 and they close at 8) but, being a server myself, when someone arrives that late, and I am tired and ready to go home, I am at that table IMMEDIATELY! We sat for 15 minutes before even getting water! I had driven for 12 hours to get there, and I wanted a glass of... More

Good day - Thanking you for taking the time to write to us to express what you experienced here. I am sorry that you did not get the good service that you and all of our guests deserve. There should not have been that long of a wait with so little people in the restaurant. I will be sharing your... More

Great service - excellent meals prepared and served with great care. My wife and I were so pleasantly surprised to find a world class chef on the premises. We cant wait to go back. Thank you Kim, Pam, and Chef Brandon for the most enjoyable dining experience we've ever had.

The interior was clean and well lit, the food was good for a buffet with wide selection and great taste, the cost was a bit high but acceptable, and the staff was adequate, I would eat here again, lunch and dinner menu looked good. I was hoping to treat myself to a hot cooked meal on my last day at... More

You are captive (nothing else available anywhere in the park). We ate here three times due to being captive, and we were deeply, deeply disappointed. The only saving grace was one amazing server whose peppy personality and genuine concern made the lunch and dinner meals enjoyable in spite of it all solely due to her smile. Lunch was a dry... It's the only place around. We were advised to eat early or it'd be crowded. For supper we split a mediocre burger but very delicious garlic fries. The fries were coated with the best garlic sauce we've had -- not harsh, just good and garlicky. And in the morning for $12.95 you can get a decent breakfast from a fairly... More

Hello there - Thank you for sharing your comments about your experience in the Grant Grove Restaurant. Glad to hear you enjoyed the Garlic Fries - they are a guest favorite. I agree regarding the ambience - and lack thereof - we have just hired a new Food and Beverage Manager and he has some great ideas to help make... More

It does the job. We wanted to have someplace for a hot meal at dinner that we didn't have to prepare ourselves - they provided exactly that. It took a fair amount of time to be seated when we arrived at 7P because it seems most of the other people in the area had the same idea. The food was... More

If you're staying in the cabins or The John Muir Lodge (as we were), your choice of eating out is The Grant Grove Restaurant or...........there isn't an "or", unless you want a long drive. So a fairly captive market. Dinner first; the food was OK. No more, no less. But the staff seemed a "bit all over the place". Maybe... More
