Great food, great service, overpriced wine list

We had hiked the Canyon earlier in the day. Enjoyed 6 PM reservations looking out at the Canyon as the sun set, over a very good meal. The wine was overpriced, but perhaps to be expected. Surprisingly it was more cost effective to order by the glass vs bottle. Our server, Jose,is a skilled... read more

After watching the sunrise on a frosty April morning, we were on the lookout for big meal to start off a long day of hiking. I had read that El Tovar was the best place to stay if you were coming to stay in the park, so I figured they probably had a half-decent breakfast, and we decided to take... More

Just a good place to set and look at the canyon over a beverage. Food was excellent, service was excellent.

Although not typical selection it is still bar food. Cheese selection was great but the duck sliders tasted like pulled pork.

Had a nice expensive, but long dinner, just the two of us. Typical national park lodge food, but a nice evening for the two of us...This place is old.

I had the German sausage with sauerkraut. It was tasteless and clearly had been cooked some days ago. My wife Roulade salad that was equally tasteless and not fresh. My wife asked for bread with her salad and was told his is not possible and was given stale tortilla chips on a plate and charged $2.25 for the pleasure. We... More

The El Tovar Lounge is our favorite mid-day stop. The lighter fare is perfect after a solid hike in the canyon or on the rim. It's a nice option for take out as well. Service has always been spot on.

Following a hike we stopped here for a drink while we waited for the dining room to start serving dinner. The service was excellent. The lounge was comfortable. The prices reasonable. The snack menu looked interesting, but we didn't try anything so can't comment on the food. The lounge is fairly small and I would guess can get very crowded... More

Let's face it...when you go to the Grand Canyon, hotels, restaurants, and bars tend to be an afterthought. But this was a nice stop for a cocktail after our Bright Angle adventure and right in the middle of things. Food and service was just okay but probable as good as it gets.
