I liked the idea of a late afternoon drink in a lodge-y lounge. But the server immediately was focused on how I was going to pay...not welcoming and getting the drink. Just not a great feel for such a great location.

Though I cannot usually afford to stay at the El Tovar, I frequently come here to have an evening drink whether cold and sitting in the pub-like lounge or on the small deck if it is nice out. Yes, it is a little more expensive because it has little competition and the price includes money that goes back to help... More

Food quality was poor, Prices were high and service was very cloying. We had reservations and we still had to wait a half hour.

Quick to just grab a bowl of chili & a drink & call it a night. Many times the restaurants on the rim have a wait. At the end of a day of hiking, we are just tired and want to eat quick, have a cocktail, & take a hot bath.

The El Tovar Lounge is a great spot to grab a drink or snack during a pre dinner happy hour. You can grab a wine or drink to carry out to the El Tovar porch to enjoy the sunset. The lounge also has some outdoor seating with nice views of the Canyon and the wildlife that gather around the hotel... More

What a great place. Reminds me of places my parents took me in the '50's for vacations. Great memories. Please never change or update it. Right outside the door is one of the most amazing sights on earth!

Coming from a bustling city and walking in to a lodge like El Tovar is mood changing. This is what Grand Canyon should feel like. I like the atmosphere of El Tovar. This is worth seeing and stopping by. Just as worth as checking out the canyon. I would have booked a room at El Tovar too if it wasn't... More

The feeling inside is surreal. There are stuffed animal heads mounted on the walls. It's dark inside, so bring a good flash if you are taking pictures. If you're not eating or staying at the lodge, you can relax on a rocking chair at the front porch.

Great restaurant--get a reservation!! $$-$$$ and very kid friendly. Avg dish being $25. Cozy dining room and friendly servers. It would be more worth the money if they included a side salad or cup of soup with a main entree. Otherwise that's another $7+ per person to add one.
