Cozy place

After walking around the rim of the canyon, we decided to tuck into this place for a drink. The bar was very cozy and the staff were extremely friendly. We had drinks and appetizers and all were very good. You really feel like you walked back in time.

We had 2 meals at the El Tovar, dinner and breakfast. Both were great, very big portions and very well prepared with great service. The dining room is very historical with canyon views, very nicely appointed as would be expected for a historic hotel. Our service for both meals was great, and very attentive. For dinner, I had a steak... More

OK, so it's a National Park Hotel, we've stayed in plenty but this was a new low in dining ! The concession running the El Tovar Lodge Dining room was worse than my college dorm food which is apparently where ADA now Xanterra got their start. Everything was overcooked from the fish to the meat and a syrupy sauce covered... More

We had a terrific dinner at the dining room. The food was very good, even the selection on the children's menu. The decor is part of the charm - rustic but elegant. Definitely more fine dining than casual -- lots of waitstaff, linen tablecloths, etc. The space is rather crowded with tables close together, but the atmosphere is convivial. There... More

We spent our last night at the GC having a meal here. We booked in advance which proved to be a good thing. The place is lovely. The meals were great (especially the steak) and it was a lovely experience.

We ate breakfast here our last morning, and the hostess seated us at the picture window overlooking the Canyon. How majestic, sipping your coffee, good conversation, while enjoying the view that is spectacular. Service, food, decor was excellent. Highly recommended.

We had breakfast here. I had the prime rib hash and thought is was very good. Be sure to check out the Teddy Roosevelt room and the Harvey Girl display by the restaurant entrance. Evidently Teddy was fond of wearing his boots and attire spent from a day outdoors to dinner (think of the odors), so the hotel built a... More

The view alone is worth sitting here - looking out to the main view in the Grand Canyon - so we were expecting to pay! Very pleasantly surprised at the cost - we've paid nearly the same in very average diners with much poorer quality food. The blacken trout breakfast (good size trout, two eggs, fresh fruit salad and toast)... More

After hiking around the South Rim and taking in the amazing views we worked up a great appetite and visited the dining room at the El Tovar. The hostess was most gracious knowing things were quite busy and they have a good set up to allow you to go and continue enjoying views of the canyon while not losing your... More

We ate here twice - once for dinner and once for breakfast. It is the only nice restaurant in the area so reservations are a must. Our servers were both very helpful and provided a great experience. Our breakfast table provided a gorgeous view, and both meals were good. We were staying overnight so it was the best dining choice... More
