Came here with my family on our last night together in Alaska. Great food, and honestly it felt like the sort of cozy restaurant you find in small towns in New England- certainly the same ambiance. Definitely worth an evening though reserving in advance definitely is advised!

... Then this is the place to eat. Party of six, we each had a different entree. Mrs. frsbdg had the king crab rolled in fresh pasta; I had the halibut. Both were excellent. Others in our party had the lamb and filet and a couple other items and everything was great. The ice cream sandwich for dessert was also... More

Very good food uniquely prepared. Fresh ingredients, locally harvested! For some reason the service to our table was slow, but I think it was uniquely so. It was a pleasant place to relax and enjoy the good food!

We fully expected this Alaska vacation would be about the sights and not the tastes, so we dialed down our culinary expectations. Were we wrong! The trip delivered tasty discoveries from north to south, and none better than dinner at 229, located just minutes from the entrance to Denali National Park and from lodging in McKinley and Healy. Food is... More

We enjoyed our dinner at 229 Parks - the food was excellent and fresh (farm to table). The waitstaff was very professional and courteous. My husband's salmon with crispy prosciutto was the best meal of our 2-week trip; my lamb was a close second. Make reservations!

Creative and locally sourced food. Unique spin on classics as dinner options. Had a long menu of options. Great service and rustic and chilled atmosphere. Can't fault this place. Shocked to find such a great restaurant in such a remote location.

We had dinner at this restaurant and were generally pleased. The service was very good. The fish that I had was a little over salted, but that seems to be the way most of the food was cooked, which for our party of 10 was not a problem, but I can see how others might not like it. The Alaskan... More

My husband and I enjoyed a meal here after seeing this restaurant on the Trip Advisor forum for Alaska and a strong recommendation from the host at the lodge where we stayed. Be alert for the sign on the west side of the highway at mile marker 229 (thus the name!) or you will miss it. It's tucked back off... More

Charming restaurant, felt fortunate to get a reservation. Food was excellent, beautifully prepared and presented. Was in top 2 of meals I had while in AK & BC....still trying to decide which I liked best..229 or mussels I had in Sidney, BC.

Fine food, for one! I can't think of all the others, but surely they exist with so many tasty choices. The pastry case alone probably had a dozen or more. We had a salmon dish (naturally) for our entrees. The salmon filet was perfectly prepared. The white beans and peas were very good - somewhat spicy. The dinner rolls were... More
