Outstanding landscape

We drove from Fairbanks to try out this restaurant. The landscape along the road as well as the view from the restaurant was outstanding. I ordered hash potatoes which turned out to be locally grown potatoes, two poached eggs, crisped prosciutto- delicious. It came with tender pieces of beef in a... read more

We drove from Fairbanks to try out this restaurant. The landscape along the road as well as the view from the restaurant was outstanding. I ordered hash potatoes which turned out to be locally grown potatoes, two poached eggs, crisped prosciutto- delicious. It came with tender pieces of beef in a gruesome gravy. That was unfortunate because the rest of... More

I currently live in Fairbanks, Alaska and I just want to save everyone's time and money. Don't waste time on any other restaurants and head straight to 229 Parks Restaurant and Tavern. This place serves fine dining meals in the beautiful wilderness of Alaska. The service is superb and the most professional I have ever experienced in this state. I... More

If you want an amazing meal on your way to or from Denali, go to 229 Parks restaurant. It is south of Denali, maybe 20 minutes. It has a great menu, very fresh and innovative. The staff is very friendly. We just stumbled across it looking for our hotel which was close by and we were glad we found it.... More

After hearing rave reviews from some fellow Alaskans, my husband and I stopped here while passing through on our way to Anchorage. Alaska has a few fine dining options, and I would say this is one of the best. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was excellent. There is a great mix of choices, and the menu changes... Excellent chef with healthy gourmet choices! We had an excellent dinner in a very nice atmosphere. The signage is small, so be sure to be alert once you see MP 229 (north bound) or MP 230 (south bound). Very nice wine list. Enjoy!

This is definitely out of the way. I took some kids advice on how to scam a shuttle ride there. As it's one of the fine dining spots, I had go there. It's good. The staff was nice. The food was good. I like supporting locals and I'm glad I went. It is not convenient and I don't think it's... More

229 serves perfect portions of imaginative dishes with Alaskan flavor. It is a nice facility off the beaten path, very much a class act from staff. Amazing desserts in a display case to tempt you before dinner--the rustic fruit tart is life-affirming!!

Hard to find but worth the effort! South of the park and the main canyon strip marked by a tiny wooden sign, but those who know the area keep their tables filled. You will need to call for a reservation. Very high end and superbly run. Not quite the warm intimate ambiance of the Overlook in the canyon, but the... More

This restaurant is awesome. Everything is homemade. Our waitress Heather was terrific. She was friendly and her recommendations were right on. The food is cooked to order and is delicious. All we did was happy moan through dinner; and dessert??? Amazing! If in the area, definitely eat here... dress is very casual, as are most places in Alaska. Again, awesome... More

I first heard about this restaurant from a colleague who had visited Alaska a few years ago and highly recommended this restaurant. Read the reviews on tripadvisor. When I called in June to make the reservation for August, Laura, the owner/chef herself answered the phone and was very pleasant. Due to our schedule of being in Denali National Park Monday... More
