I ordered a well done steak and my husband the scampi, when it arrived and I cut in to my steak it bled, my husband pointed this out to our waitress and it was taken away I waited for its return whilst the side peppercorn sauce that remained got colder! My husband had no choice but to eat his meal,... More

We visited on a Saturday evening and it was fairly busy at 7.15. By 7.30 it was heaving and you can't book which is fine but maybe you need to think about your arrival time if you have young children. Excellent choice of ales and different style of wine glasses. We didn't order a starter and thank goodness because the... More

We have visited this pub whilst on holiday numerous times and stayed there twice, the current landlord has improved the pub no end and is continuing to do so, I cannot find a single fault, and im concerned for the people that can, how can you possibly complain that the portions are too big???, anyway, pub atmosphere is great the... Walked to this from where we were staying. Made very welcome by all the staff. Even made our dogs feel welcome. Great meal, cooked to perfection. Will come again

Overpriced for the area - lasagne cost more than a restaurant we use in Buckhurst Hill Essex. Huge portions - too large to enjoy. My sister in law and I only needed to order 1 meal to share judging by what we left. Previously have had undercooked risotto and fish pie that was very dry. Have now decided not to... More

We were looking for a good pub lunch style meal yesterday (Sunday) to escape from the Holiday Camp horrors. We found this one just two miles away on TripAdvisor and thought we should check it out. We were so pleased we did, first Winterton is one of the prettiest villages you could find, thatched cottages and roses around the door... More

We were staying in one of the holiday cottages nearby and my son and husband called in to ask if we could book a table for later that evening, however they were put off by the very rude attitude of the owner. I can understand that he might not want to take bookings but why not put a sign outside... More

Nice selection of seafood, food was nicely cooked and in abundance, draft ale was also nice. however there was a feeling of being unwelcome, not so much by the staff but by the locals, every time we looked up from our table we were met with glares. spacious pub but not one i would be returning to.

We have been to this pub many times. It is a charming old building, friendly staff, dogs and babies welcome. We don't have the dog but we did have the baby with us. It was a warm sunny Sunday evening and the tables outside were full, mostly with people drinking but not eating. You can't book and we are fine... More

Hi I have visited this pub many times as I live in the next village. I can honestly say I have never been disappointed. It is set in a beautiful setting and is lovely to sit outside. I don't own a dog but love the fact that people can bring there pets with them. I have had several meals here... More
