Well worth a visit

Recommended by my brother if we were up that way. We popped in for lunch on a very busy Sunday. We didn't have to wait too long to get our food and sat outside and ate delicious sandwiches in the sun in March! We will definitely return for a meal next time we are in the area.

We have been coming to the Lakes for the past 20 years or so and have always made sure we fit in a visit to the Kirkstile Inn, regardless of where we staying. This has to be our favourite Pub in the Lake District, The food is such good value compared to the more popular tourist destinations and always of... More

After 400 years of service as a hostelry you would imagine that they'd got the serving of food and drink spot on .... And you'd be or right in your assumption. People who visit The Kirkstile tend to return again and again as the ambience is second to none and the food is delightful. There are always a good few... More

We ate here on a Saturday in February and the pub was packed - with good reason. The food was excellent, as was the locally brewed beer. I had the steak and ale pie - it was a proper homemade pastry pie (not a stew in a dish with a puff pastry lid) and it was crammed with 100% steak.... More

did not stay so can not comment on the hotel. had an evening meal ln front of a roaring log fire and it was just what what you needed on a cold and wet evening . good food and service although a bit on the expensive side.

I haven't stayed there so I can't comment but the food is great the beer is fantastic and the atmosphere is what a pub should be. It's ideally located for all types of walks and they're more then happy for you to park there to walk unlike some pubs.

I popped in here at the end of a long weekend in the Lakes, having already enjoyed good food and beer in several places, but (as expected) a quick bite at the Kirkstile was best of all. Having already had much Jennings and a good pint of Loweswater Gold elsewhere my pint of Esthwaite ale was even better: rich and... More

We arranged to meet friends for lunch and wisely telephoned to reserve a table which we thought would not be a problem on a Tuesday early in February. However on arrival we were suprised by the number of vehicles in the car park and the Inn was 'full' inside, not in an unpleasant way as it created lots of atmosphere.... More

always a favourite and never lets you down. Went for a birthday lunch and had steak pie and chips washed down with a couple of pints of Loweswater Gold (best pint around). Coal fire on nice and warm with a busy but comfortable bar area

Just got back from a weekend stay at the Kirkstile Inn, Loweswater, Cumbria. A delightfully situated Inn hidden in the North Western Cumbrian mountains. It's difficult to picture a more scenic location with mountains surrounding the Inn and the beck running close by. The beer is brewed in their own local brewery and is well worth tasting. The meals are... More
