We had heard the Kirkstile Inn was a great place to eat so we gave it a go this lunchtime. It was busy but we managed to get a seat to the right of the log fire with wonderful views over the stream. Very relaxed and friendly place. Even better no phone signal so every one just talks to one... More

We really enjoyed the relaxed ambience of the pub, and the friendly, helpful nature of the staff. The food was excellent, particularly the Cumbrian "Scotch" egg and delicious sticky toffee pudding. We were expecting good pub food and our expectations were surpassed.

The place itself is in a stunning location and I try to eat here at least once a month, the food is always of the highest standard and presented well, the only thing I would suggest changing your main menu a bit more because there's only so many times you can have hotpot or fish and chips ect before you... The Kirkstile Inn just seems to get better! Four of us plus Mollie our collie travelled the few miles to Loweswater for a pleasant walk and then went on to the Kirkstile for our lunch. The atmosphere was casual, relaxed and friendly as usual and the selection of Lakeland beers was excellent. Service was good, but the highlights of the... More

The perfect Lakeland pub, highly recommended by the owners of the B&B I was staying in and well deserved. Very popular so book ahead for a table if you're eating. A great traditional menu with specials on the board that went way beyond the normal pub fayre. Micro brewery on site with the beers and guest ales on tap or... More

My wife and I often holiday in the Lakes January, February time, and usually spend a morning walking round Loweswater. Few people seem to come here, as it's not one of the well-known lakes. We were weary. We were hungry. And then we found the Kirkstole Inn. Thought it would be deserted, but - it was packed. Roaring fire. Excellent... More

Had a lovely meal here last night. The staff were very attentive, informative and friendly. Booked last minute and were made very welcome. Veranda table was a little drafty, it was a really windy night, so we asked to sit in the bar when a table became available. We both had one of the specials, seabass marinated in rosemary honey...
