Great food and beer, good choice, and service. Call ahead or arrive early for a table in the bar area (avoid 'the barn'). Well worth a scenic 10 mile drive from our guest house.

Pub was very busy and we only just managed to get a table but it was worth it as the Loweswater Gold beer and the food was excellent.

Enjoyed our pint and dinner at the kirkstile. The pie and pudding were delicious though personally, I'd add more sauce to the excellent sticky toffee pudding.

We went here with friends as they had wanted to try the food having only been there for a drink. We were greeted warmly on arrival and asked if we had a reservation [ do book as it can get really busy especially in high season] We were taken into the dining room and very soon our drinks order was... Good selection of real ales, nice wines and splendid food. The choice of food and quality of the cooking is very good and service is swift and very friendly. Highly recommended!

We've eaten here many times over the years, sometimes in the evenings and sometimes after a walk. We come here as a couple and pretty much always bring our friends here when they come to visit as it depicts a great Lakeland pub and the setting is so lovely. We took our friends on Saturday night (we always book in... More

We stopped here today for lunch after a short family stroll at Crumock Water nearby. We haven't been before but have heard lots of recommendations from friends. The menu is small but still gives wide choice and everyone found something which suited them. The food when it arrived was clearly homemade. The kids menu was also good, my four year... More

We dropped into this inn before going on a nice walk round Crummock Water. It is a traditional old inn with roaring fires (even in August) and good beer. The view from this pub is amazing you are surrounded by hills and if the weather is kind they have a fab garden to sit in to admire the view and... More

My partner and I recently had an evening meal here to celebrate his birthday and it was lovely. The Inn itself has bags of character and the views are absolutely amazing. The staff are very helpful and even though both the restaurant and beer garden were full the service was second to none. They do a wonderful Scotch egg (with... More

Amazing location, sat outside nice atmosphere. Wonderful service, staff were very friendly and helpful. Quick service. Huge range of food to chose from it was hard to decide. Reasonably priced. Decorated well, kept with a nice traditional pub decor.
