We ate here three times. For us it's the best pub in the Buttermere valley. The crumble pudding is amazing and it's only a short to Loweswater

Been the Kirkstile twice in the past couple of months, once with friends for lunch and once just for a quick bite while out walking. The time it took to get served was poor on both occasions and waiting times for food were both in excess of 30 minutes. The first time the food arrived at different times and had... More

I was completely blown away. Admittedly, this is in the middle of nowhere but what a gem. Had the Cumbrian Scotch egg to start, Chicken, Cumbrian ham and leek pudding for main and then a crumble with custard to finish. Every course was done to a high standard. The custard is to die for you could even see the specks... More

This was our second visit to the Kirkstile Inn. We usually stay around the South of the Lake District, and so the journey to the Kirkstile Inn is incredible itself! The food is second to none, simple and tasty pub food which fills you up and certainly satisfies your taste buds! Would go here again no doubt.

Great food, great beer, and great service. We went on a Monday night, so glad we booked a table, people were queuing to get a table...very popular and i can see why.

The views of Mellbreak from this restaurant are amazing. We had to wait a while for a table as we had not booked as the restaurant was very busy. Choice of food is great and this is a typical Lakeland inn. Once ordered the food did not take long and service was great. Specials change each day. Portions were large.... More

I really liked the food here. I'd recommend the fish and chips. The presentation was fabulous. I liked the nostalgic use of paper. My friends had their crisps in a little frying pan too. The food was yum!

Attended as a group of 10 friends - good food, but poor customer service which prevents me from giving this place a higher review. The food was good - not incredible, but good. Accompanying vegetables and chips were very good, and overall the meal was pretty good value (I've paid more elsewhere for less). My partner and I both had... More

This place has to be good to be where it is - in the middle of nowhere. We would say it is a better than average pub for food. Service was fast; portions generous - in fact the pudding - crumble- was vast, much too big and this was the only dish we didn't like.

Very busy evening but staff coped very well. They accommodated our preferred move to another table with no issue. Food was excellent well presented and in good time. Lovely setting. Well worth a trip back.
