We visited the Kirkstile at Loweswater in late August. The staff were friendly and efficient, the setting is in my favourite part of the Northern lakes. That's the good news, our party had 3 ploughman's and 1 steak pie. The ploughman's had very little variety on it and the pie very average. We were all disappointed as our friends had... More

The Kirkstile Inn is a very old pub tucked away in the beautiful Loweswater Valley, you wouldn't come across it unless you were down there. We know this area very well, but we haven't been to the Kirkstile for a long time, we wont be dashing back either even if we do get hungy while out walking, take a picnic,... More

We were surprised how busy this pub was when we called in !! it was full to busting but we managed to find a table. We only had a light lunch but both would like to return and stay in the rooms they have too. Lovely cosy pub with log fires

WE found this delightful Country Inn in the 'middle of nowhere' it is a charming old fashioned Country Inn that serves good honest English food, mainly of the lighter nature, we had Soup and Sandwich, very good quality at a more than reasonable price. Ideal place to drop into for a light lunch, but be very wary, by its nature... More

On a wet day in November, my friends & I had a drive around Loweswater & decided to pop into the Kirkstile for a lunch time light snack. We were sitting close to the kitchen doors & could see some of the kitchen when the waiters opened the doors to bring food out for other diners. The food did look... More

Ate here on two occasions whilst staying at the nearby and rather excellent New House Farm (see recent review). Good quality food at a reasonable price, 2 courses with drinks circa £45. The lamb shoulder was the stand out dish. Some nice beers too.

The inn has a roaring fire, plenty of custom and an idyllic country pub feel to the place. The Steak and Ale pie was excellent. Thoroughly recommended and worthy of its 'legendary' status. A lovely Lake District pub. Highly recommended.

We visit the place multiple times every time we're in the Lakes. Great home cooked meals, a lovely atmosphere with a cost fire in the colder months with plenty of local ales to sample and even take home with you. Just remember to take your flash light if you want to stumble home with those last orders and not want... More

We ate here on two nights last week. It was always busy but in both cases we had no trouble booking a table by phoning earlier in the day (Monday and Friday). The food is a cut above normal pub grub at a reasonable price. We did find the food quite rich, and the portions were large - great after... More
