We've been coming here off and on for 40 years and it is always on our list of places to visit in the Lake District. Good atmosphere and excellent pub food. The Loweswater Gold bitter is very fine too.

One of the most ideal locations for a pub, an old Lakeland pub very old no fuss but excellent food, and good local beers.

We had a lovely lunch at the Kirkstile Inn, well worth the trip to this lovely beamed pub. Highly recommended.

A group of us went for lunch, and arrived just after the rush for tables, which meant there was nowhere to fit the 10 of us together. Although the staff were rushed off their feet because the place was so busy, they managed to reorganise tables to squeeze us in. The service and suggestions about options, especially for the young... Nice lunch & dog friendly at lunch time, although the bar area was dowdy. The food was good a little pricey, but only what you would expect in the Lakes. Staff friendly

I'm afraid I can't tell you about the food, drink, etc because we were turned away! My friend and colleague and I drove our vans into the car park at approximately 10.30 am as we were supporting our other colleagues in their C2C charity cycle ride to raise money for less advantaged children (this was emblazened across one of our... Great food and beer, good choice, and service. Call ahead or arrive early for a table in the bar area (avoid 'the barn'). Well worth a scenic 10 mile drive from our guest house.

Pub was very busy and we only just managed to get a table but it was worth it as the Loweswater Gold beer and the food was excellent.

Enjoyed our pint and dinner at the kirkstile. The pie and pudding were delicious though personally, I'd add more sauce to the excellent sticky toffee pudding.

We went here with friends as they had wanted to try the food having only been there for a drink. We were greeted warmly on arrival and asked if we had a reservation [ do book as it can get really busy especially in high season] We were taken into the dining room and very soon our drinks order was...
