Good pub food

We ate here on recommendation of the B&B we stayed at. My husband had the steak which was cooked just as he asked. I had the fish/seafood pie which was tasty although somewhat sparse on fish, had 2 prawns and generous potato crust. It was good pub food.

Been coming here infrequently over the years and used to deliver a good Sunday roast but now, I'm afraid, many do it a lot better. Portions average to small and the local beef has the perfect slicing and texture that only comes from being pre-prepared and reheated. Lunch menu in the week used to have great variety too but now... I read your comments, are you sure you have the right Hunters Inn? We serve a lovely Sunday roast, and our waiters always offer everyone extra vegetables, potatoes & trimmings, so no one goes away hungry. Our week day menu vegetarian options are very nice, specially chosen to use the best seasonal ingredients, this month we have a very tasty... More

We visited Hunters inn during the easter break ,on the reccomendation of our b&b owners. All I can say is that it didnt dissapoint, the food was of excellent quality and the service was both friendly and efficient. I highly recommend a visit.

We were staying nearby and stopped here for dinner on a Friday night. We were welcomed and given a table even though we were actually a bit late to be served food. The menu was extensive with great choices. We had a pasta dish and steak, delicious! The service was spot on and not intrusive or rushed given that it... More

Well, it was supposed to be a romantic evening. I asked for a table in the main bar/ restaurant area. We were put in a corner of the Public Bar. No candle like other tables. Mediocre food. When we paid, we mentioned our disappointment and all we got was the usual "I'm sorry". The standard has certainly declined and it... More

I recently visited the Hunters Inn pub and was impressed by the friendly staff and authenticity of the pub itself. I ordered a jacket potato and although in places it wasn't entire cooked properly, it was still really tasty and I would return. The prawns were delicious and it came with a really fresh salad. Great atmosphere for a business... More

We visited on Saturday 20th December 2014 for a family Christmas get-together. We were greeted by the same predictable menu and no specials on the board. We were told that the Christmas menu on the table was unavailable to us as it had to be booked in advance. The staff were polite and full of good intentions but no substitute... More

Very disappointed with our visit after a few good meals over the years, we dined on 20/12/14 as a family group had a table in the skittle alley ,no problem with that but the overall standard of the food was poor, garlic and bacon mushrooms, no taste of garlic, no bacon, served lukewarm, limp mushrooms that appeared to have been...
