A good lunch

We were diverted by roadworks and found ourselves in Holt at 1.30 on a Saturday. This place looked attractive so we found the car park (fairly full) and asked about lunch. We were welcomed and warned there would be a short wait as they were busy and we were happy to wait. Good atmosphere, good... read more

Called in for lunch, the pub is clean and bright inside with lots of parking to the rear. The menu is varied and caters for a range of tastes. The beers are well kept and fairly priced. The food was excellent in both taste and value and the sweet menu is very tempting. The staff are helpful and friendly and... More

Returned to this pub after a gap of many years, after dodgy reports from previous owners/keepers.. The meal was a gift from our daughter and we were well pleased with an excellent fish and chip meal. The present owners seem to have got it right, and we will certainly return under our own steam next time.

Went for an early evening meal we had got on groupon so meal was excellent value for money. My burger was home made thick and juicy, I will go again if I'm passing. The welcome and friendliness of all the staff was lovely. It was a bit 'locally' at the bar,Mobutu the friendly greeting removed the feeling of being outsiders.... More

Lovely village pub. A good selection of food, freshly prepared and wonderfully tasty. We will be back.

Food just OK, service good. Atmosphere a little dispirited - perhaps that was just because it wasn't very busy. I had prawn cocktail to start, very bland. Main courses were acceptable steaks. For puddings we had crumble and creme brulee - both looked and tasted shop-bought (I don't suppose they actually were, but they were bland again).

We bought this deal from Groupon, a two course lunch for four. We were treated excellently. The food was plentiful and well cooked, though of a normal pub standard with no trimmings. It had a good choice of ales and we added a pudding, even though we didn't need one, as I am a sucker for sticky toffee pudding. Holt... More

Had a late lunch on Saturday. The welcome from the manager was friendly and makes you feel at home. We shared the starters of Feta Bruschetta which was tasty and made us laugh and a bread and dips. We asked for more bread which is needed and was brought promptly. My vegetarian friend raves about them serving Quorn dishes. I... More

Took advantage of a Groupon voucher. Cannot criticise the deal; the food was homemade; not out of a freezer, and was very good. Chicken and Ham Pie with well prepared veg and mash. Only slight criticism, the bar was a bit cold and the toilets don't appear to have been updated since about 1960. Will definitely go there again.
