We stopped by on route on a cycle ride and so only needed something light. The sandwiches were clearly made entirely from fresh and not too heavy and chunky. The chips were light and the best bit was the salad....because the chef clearly made an effort to provide a good mix of items with a beautiful dressing. Such a nice... More

Visited this pub because it accommodated my Gourmet Card, giving a 2 for 1 across the food menu. The dining room was just off the main bar and midweek it was fairly quiet, which was a welcome change from some other establishments. The menu was full of traditional fare and even included the old basket favourites. A good quality local... More

We had lunch here yesterday, May Day bank holiday, and expected to find it crowded as it has a good reputation. Instead it was about half full, which made it quite an enjoyable lunch. However, a noisy baby and adults making it scream did rather spoil the atmosphere. Why do parents do this? Can't blame the baby of course, but... More

My party of three visited this lovely pub using a prepaid Fish & Chips with a drink offer. We purchased a couple of starters and desserts in addition. All of the food was perfectly cooked from fresh, tasted deliciously hot and it was nice to enjoy a pub where you could hold a conversation without interruption from a noisy juke... More

We were diverted by roadworks and found ourselves in Holt at 1.30 on a Saturday. This place looked attractive so we found the car park (fairly full) and asked about lunch. We were welcomed and warned there would be a short wait as they were busy and we were happy to wait. Good atmosphere, good choice of food (including specials... More

Called in for lunch, the pub is clean and bright inside with lots of parking to the rear. The menu is varied and caters for a range of tastes. The beers are well kept and fairly priced. The food was excellent in both taste and value and the sweet menu is very tempting. The staff are helpful and friendly and... More

Returned to this pub after a gap of many years, after dodgy reports from previous owners/keepers.. The meal was a gift from our daughter and we were well pleased with an excellent fish and chip meal. The present owners seem to have got it right, and we will certainly return under our own steam next time.

Went for an early evening meal we had got on groupon so meal was excellent value for money. My burger was home made thick and juicy, I will go again if I'm passing. The welcome and friendliness of all the staff was lovely. It was a bit 'locally' at the bar,Mobutu the friendly greeting removed the feeling of being outsiders.... More
