Anniversary meal to remember!

Despite the restaurant being full, the service we received was second to none! The food was delicious and good sized portions. Wild mushroom risotto is highly recommended and I'm not a vegetarian! A party of 6 ladies were unable to get a taxi, being Saturday night, so 2 members of staff drove them... read more

We have enjoyed Sunday lunch here on a number of occasions over the past few years but our latest visit a couple of weeks ago was very disappointing. We had to ask if we could sit at our table after being left waiting in the bar for 45 minutes. The starters were tasty but the portions were miniscule! We had... More

A party of 10 for Sunday lunch. Where do I go from here, perhaps the positive: the staff, all young, not a mature face among them, were lovely but lacked leadership, resulting in long waits for bothe food and drink. At one stage, I went to the bar to get a drink when one of our party had also to... More

Had a meal here to celebrate my husbands birthday and was not disappointed. It was made even better as I used my AA Gourmet loyalty card. Pub set in a lovely little village Sutton on the Forest and deceivingly a lot bigger than it looks from the front. It extends far back into a conservatory then into beautiful gardens with... More

Lovely food, but appalling service for a so called upmarket restaurant. No management, all young untrained staff on duty, who didn't know the wine list and were not attentive. Not their fault as clearly they had not been trained. Very disappointing.

Great country pub restaurant. Went twice whilst on a holiday to a nearby lodge. Sunday lunch was terrific and then returned for an evening meal. I cannot eat wheat or lactose and the sympathetic chef went out his way to adapt the menu choices for me. Will definitely be back if staying in the area. Waitresses very friendly and helpful... We have been here on many occasions, most recently yesterday, we have never been disappointed. Last nights meal was perfect and as we ate from the 'early bird' menu it was exceptional value .Other reviews have stated problems with the staff, never have we experienced this, maybe it's sometimes what you give out you get back! We will continue to eat... More

We drove past & said "we have never been in there", so we turned round, went back & went in. Like a previous reviewer commented it is a bit like Dr Who`s Tardis, much bigger inside that it looks from the outside. We were greeted with a cheery welcome & as the sun had just decided to show its face... More
