Went a walk and found this place, didn't expect this at all, absolutely gorgeous place, loads of candles and quirky items and lanterns, heaven for me. Chose the Duck dish, beautifully presented with fresh veg. Ate outside in the gazebo on a warm balmy evening. Unforgettable first evening in Sutton on the Forest. X

This place is a must visit, called in for food on the Friday night. We could have sat down to eat in the beautifully decorated restaurant and chosen food from the fantastic menu on offer, but it was really warm and there was a BBQ out side cooked by 1 of the 6 chefs they have there and the burgers, chips... I had the mackerel for a starter, followed by the meat pie, which was very filling, but done to perfection, along with carrots, cauliflower and green beans. My wife settled for the chicken, which once again was done to perfection. We did not have a dessert because the main course was so filling.

The place is quirky with a lovely atmosphere. They have a dining area, a bar and lovely outside facilities which on a nice day would be perfect and ideal for families. Staff are polite, friendly and attentive. The Sunday Lunch is delicious, decent portion size and reasonably priced. I highly recommend its a brilliant find and shall be returning.

An excellent evening in late June: as always the welcome was warm and the service was efficient. The menu was interesting and the food itself cooked beautifully. This is high quality dining in a wonderful atmosphere, as good as any of the top class restaurants I have encountered across Europe.

Stayed in Sutton on the Forest at a nearby Inn but they did not do an evening meal on Thursdays. The Rose & Crown was recommended and we were delightfully surprised on entering to find a beautiful and unusual interior, thoughtfully furnished and laid out, and were greeted with enthusiasm by a young charming waitress. The selection of food on... More

I called into this pub with members of my family. We were on the lookout for a suitable venue for a large family meal in August. We was greeted by a very unpleasant member of staff (I think the landlady) who abruptly informed us that “they were no longer serving”. We pointed out that we only required drinks and she... More

Stayed in Sutton on the Forest for 2 nights and ate here both nights. The meal was perfect, the service was EXCELLENT, the atmosphere was perfect. What a hidden gem. The food and service quality is far better than some of the best restaurants in main cities. Well worth a visit.

My daughter wanted part of one starter and they just made that bit bigger .All brilliant and a great time was had by all! We will... More
