Top class vegan grub

Carlsberg don't do vegan restaurants but if they did... had a lovely time in our gypsy caravan glamping experience at The Phoenix Restaurant followed by an even lovelier vegan breakfast - hot scones, pancakes, breads, granola, fresh fruit salad- what a feast! I was very excited about my stay at the Phoenix restaurant and B and B in Castlemaine in County Kerry, however I was bitterly disappointed. I and a friend stayed in a gypsy caravan and ate an evening meal there. The choice of main course was very poor and centred round things that I felt could be prepared ahead of... More

A group of us had vouchers from grabone for this restaurant and it was recommended by several people so we were looking forward to it, I was especially as i had never had afternoon tea before unlike others who were with me. It became apparent soon after we arrived, even though we had booked weeks in advance , and called... More

It states clearly on the grabone Afternoon Tea For Two voucher that it is afternoon for tea for two. Each voucher costs €15 for two people and for that you get a plate of tapas dips and pates on dainty squares of bread, tea or coffee and a generous cake tier with home made cakes, swiss chocolate, crumble and a... Had some lunch here recently and while I did enjoy it, I didn't leave particularly full especially for what we paid. I did find it somewhat overpriced. We waited for quite a while for someone to appear in order for us to pay at the end which was a pity as customer service is high on my list of priorities,... More

Stunning cafe & gardens. Greeted by two lovely dogs in the garden just so chilled and doing their met & greet job. Decor of the hippy, eastern type - Namaste statue to welcome you in. Outside under the canopy looked lovely, even a shawl to wrap around you hung over chair. Seaweed baths available plus accomodation if required. Now to... More

Nice restaurant but have to say the three meals (plus one kiddies) represented very poor value. 7.50 for a baby bowl of vegetarian pasta is about as poor value as I've ever encountered. 20 for vegetarian curry seemed very overpriced as did 6.50 for a small glass of wine. When I ordered a beer I was brought a Hefeweisen which... More

We have had two almost identical reviews about the prices of our food, for identical vegetarian dishes that usually receive rave reviews . The Firebird curry is sweet potato, chickpea, fruit & tofu, slow cooked in coconut, lime and freshly roasted whole spices. It is served with organic wild rice, a sweet caramelized carrot & dahl pate and a garden... More

The food is good but at 20 euro for a veg curry or veg bake I have to say this is way over priced. If it had been better value I would recommend this restaurant but these prices are crazy for what we got. The place was empty when we were there and this was a Saturday evening in June.... More
