Having celebrated our grandmother's 100th birthday here last October which she thoroughly enjoyed we asked if they could accommodate her wake after she sadly passed away in June. They could have not been more helpful and provided a quiet area nd a superb spread. Tea and coffee was topped up by attentive staff sensitive to the occasion. Would not hesitate... More

Went there with two friends for breakfast, glad we booked as quite busy. Was told when ordering that there may be a wait as the usual chef was not in. Didn't have to wait long at all and breakfast was fabulous. Staff were very nice and helpful. Another visit is planned..

My 1st visit to this little gem of a tea place and I couldn't really fault it. Food came surprisingly quickly which was a god send with two young grandsons with me. Lovely selection available and very tasty. I'm definitely taking my in-laws for afternoon tea and a breakfast visit is also in order.

Some friends of mine were arranging a summer get together, and wanted to do something different than the usual barbeque, given that the weather has been a bit erratic. They already knew this restaurant, so decided that this would be the perfect venue to have an afternoon tea. A table for 6 was booked in advance, for 2pm for the... More

I have not reviewed until now because I wanted to be fair. The other reviews I have read here are correct, although the venue is stunning and the food OK, there is something quite definately wrong with the way the place is run and the attitude of the staff. We booked a table for a friends leaving party and thought... More

Hi. I'd like to thank you for your review. Firstly I pondered why would you be amazed when we asked what you would like to drink? Tea surely? I've always believed in an individuals right to choose. I personally don't like tea so no not tea for me. Then others like tea in the morning and coffee in the afternoon.... More

This is a very quaint pretty tea shop and worth a visit if you're not in a hurry. The 'shop' needs some reorganisation but good for a leisurely rummage with some lovely bits for sale. Slices of delicious cake (inc gluten free) can also be taken away - great. I booked a table for two on a sunny Friday lunchtime... More

Hi Ruth Thank you for your review. Yes the Friday you had booked was incredibly busy. We had a lot of trouble keeping tabs on customers. As you know we do not book tables in the garden as you cannot guarantee the weather. We have had a customers caught in mid lunch when the heavens opened. So the table you... More

My wife had been to 'Cabbages and Kings' before with close friends for afternoon tea. That was her first visit, and she returned home, giving it first class reviews for friendly service, convivial atmosphere and, importantly, the quality of the homemade fare. Last week, I was persuaded to visit for morning tea, and I was not disappointed. It fully met... More

It seems harsh to rate a five star eating experience with a two star review but that is how much the attitude and rudeness of the owner affected my overall experience. At the risk of more rudeness (evident from responses by the owner to poor reviews), I would like to put my point across. We hadn't booked for Wednesday lunch... More

Hi Jacqui. I'd like to thank you for your review. I'm terribly sorry, it sounds like you experienced my panic voice. You must be the lady who had both elbows on the cake counter leaning over the cake. I don't think those were my exact words but my apologies for forgetting my p's and q's. I'd ask you to scroll... My daughter took me here for a belated Mother's day afternoon tea yesterday, It was worth waiting for. We had a selection of four different plump sandwiches, five different handmade cakes and gorgeous warm apricot & nut scones with apricot jam & clotted cream. It was so filling we asked if we could take the remaining cakes home, hubby was very pleased!!... More

I booked afternoon tea for 4 of us, as it was a special occasion. We arrived and we're shown to a very tight table in the corner by the counter, but due to my sister being 9 months pregnant, and unable to fit comfortably, we asked to be seated elsewhere. We ended up sitting in the room just off the... More
