I visit this tearoom about once a month with my mum or friends. It has the most delicious food, both savoury and cakes. The service is fine, prefer the quality of the food to be as it is and maybe wait a little longer. Lots of tempting goodies in the shop too. Thank you Jane and your team for the... More

On arrival the tea rooms has a lovely shop, before walking into the tea rooms, and a beautiful garden with tables. Unfortunately the service let the tea rooms down on this occasion, 20 minutes wait for drinks, and order was delivered incorrectly. Then another 15 minutes wait for it to be rectified, & for my husband to ask 3 times... More

Decided to visit for brunch after hearing some good reviews about this little tea room however was left feeling disappointed. Food was lovely however everything else was a let down. We reserved a table and when we entered the restaurant area we did not receive any sort of welcome or even an acknowledgement. We sat ourselves down at our table... More

I visited with my daughter one lunch time on a glorious sunny day, and we were fortunate enough to get a table in the beautiful garden out the back. The food was very, very good. We both had a vegetarian quiche with salad, and it was delicious. There was plenty of yummy filling in the quiche and the pastry was... More

Experienced the delights of this fab cafe today. They were a little understaffed but it was not their fault and the food and service was great under the circumstances. . I tried the veggie frittata. Yummy!! My friend said it was her best salad ever. We are going to go for breakie next time. If you love fresh home cooked... More

My daughter suggested afternoon tea, a lovely idea! I knew of Cabbages & Kings but had never visited so decided to give it a try. As I work until 3pm we agreed to meet there at 3.30pm, a perfect time for afternoon tea, you would think, but was informed that afternoon tea finished at 2.30pm. Now, to me, that is... More

Hi, thank you for your review and I'm glad you enjoyed the cakes. I think there may have been a little confusion. The kitchen closes at 2.45 so our chef who starts his day almost 8hours earlier at 7am has time to clean down and put everything away before he goes home. If the kitchen stayed open longer it would... More

I returned with another friend for yet another Afternoon Tea; was there back in April. Pleased to say this visit was equally as good as the first in April. Divine cakes(!!), lovely sandwiches, scones and excellent service. My friend, who years ago lived in Halstead and knew the "old post office" was also very impressed and we both would undoubtedly... I met a friend here for lunch, it is set in the centre of Halstead a small village, parking is busy but you can fine somewhere on the road. You go through a shop with some nice gifts and come to the eating area, there are several rooms and a very pretty garden. We had a very nice salad lunch,... More
