I came for tea and cake with a friend one Saturday afternoon. It was very busy but we managed to find a table in the garden, which was lovely (thankfully it was sunny, if not warm). I had blueberry, raspberry and lime drizzle cake which was fantastic. So delicious I took the last piece home with me as well! The... More

This gift shop and tea room is tucked away in the village of Halstead. The tea room was very busy for a wet November afternoon. Good friendly service and the cakes were excellent. Well worth looking for it.

This was for a quiet lunch for my friends 91st birthday. I booked a table but didn't realise that the afternoon teas didn't start until 2pm. The waitress was extremely helpful and we managed to have a small version of the experience as the restaurant was very busy and by the time our food arrived it would be 2pm (... More

Three of us met here and had lunch. It's a lovely setting inside a gift shop and the food is delicious. The staff are friendly and efficient, all round a great place for a relaxed lunch with friends.

Try the corn fritters they really are amazing! Have been meaning to try this place for ages but hadnt quite made it. Will be making more of an effort to go back. Lots of goodies in the shop to distract too!

Book the afternoon tea in advance. At £15 it has to be the bargain of the century. Could wax lyrically about blueberry jam and cream and blueberry scones ..... and bakewell tart "to die for" .... and almond & blueberry cake ..... and proper egg mayonaise .... and strong cheddar ..... but at this point you might have got the... A really quaint little restaurant in which was The Old Post Office. There are two small shops you walk through in which they sell very pretty arty things. Lovely food, but it seems you need to book as it does get very full. The day we visited it was crowded and we managed to get a seat in the pretty... More

Set in this beautiful village of Halstead is the delightful Cabbages and Kings Tearoom. My mum had booked for me, my two daughters and herself to go for afternoon tea to finish off the school holidays. What a treat!! Entering through a lovely little shop you go through to a quite modern tearoom. Walls hung with local artists work (which... More

We booked a table for 4 for the full traditional afternoon tea. This was for a special treat for grandma, who recently has done so much to help our family. We wanted her to walk in and see a beautiful table set with traditional china, but unfortunately the table we booked was in use by another couple when we arrived... More
