I would probably give this if I could a 3.5 but put 4 as it is pretty near very good overall! This is just a pub with the one room, about 8 tables with the bar in the back corner. There is nothing romantic or quaint here, but if all you want is a good plate of tasty food then... More

We were visiting family in Chillington and all three nights while there we used the pub. Very welcoming little pub which seemed well used by the locals as well as visitors to the area. The manager seemed passionate about his Ale and had three local ales on the go when we visited. His lager and cider were also from Devon... More

First things first, it is not some showy pub, we ate here twice and it was good value, but not fancy. I confess I did not like the beer, and there were three real ales on that all seemed the same to me!! Nice quiet garden. It did close down for a while and has now re-opened and the village... More

Visited for the first time on Weds 30/07. Passed the pub many times and as they have relatively recently reopened thought about time we stopped. Very welcoming on arrival...always a good start. Good choice of ales and had a very well kept pint of the Summer Ale and decent house wine. Food was good (Lamb and Mint Suet Pudding and... More

I was staying in Chillington this June 2014 and we frequented The Open Arms Bar. Restaurant on the main street. We were staying at Meadow mews holiday cottage for a family reunion and we were at The Open Arms pretty much every night the service was great and with a smile and very friendly atmosphere. They had a good selection... More

Lovely welcome, superb food and a very nice atmosphere. We will be back and will recommend this fine unassuming pub to others.

We are very pleased to find they now are serving food, Tues to Sunday, and will no doubt be appreciated by the locals when they are disinclined to cook, and want a lazy evening in a friendly atmosphere. Both Katie and Alex welcomed us and we felt right at home, we usually only go out at lunchtimes, but we can... More

Nice beer, they have three real ales which you can sample to check you like them, one of these I believe is a guest ale. The food is not bad, plus they do a take away service, which can be useful. Staff friendly and helpful. On the main road through the village so can be missed if you don't see... More
