One of the great things in France is that almost anywhere you can find a restaurant that serves delicious French food in a calm - no frills - ambience. Just everything about the food (and service)! La Promenade is such a place. We ate sandre,...a local Loire fresh water fish, which was beautifully prepared. Selected a Chinon white from a simple wine list which contained many wines, many of which we recognised as good choices. My desert was apricots gratines with home made ice-cream; was absolutely amazing. Service very friendly. We have eaten here before and will eat there again! Has not yet disappointed us. Check it out!More
I find this restourant during my holidays in Gennes. We enjoy quaity of food and the presentation of dishes. All perfect and also service.
On another trip to Angers we decided to check out the La Promenade at St. Mathurin as it has pretty good Trip Advisor reviews so we thought it was worth a visit. Starters of nems en rillauds d'Anjou and goats cheese, pan fried tuna steak...(beautifully moist) with tomato cream, gazpacho and courgette spaghetti were very good. Main courses of chicken and sandre were 50-50. The sandre was good with a lovely medley of spring vegetables and a good butter sauce, unfortunately the chicken was dry and over cooked. Desserts were apricot sabayon and Cointreau parfait. The sabayon was accompanied by a lovely apricot ice cream that had good flavour but was a little runny; the Cointreau parfait was excellent. Service was attentive and timely. Worth a visit but lets hope the chicken improves.More
Lovely interior setting. Beautifully presented and served meal. Good value for the price. Arrived early and was quiet but then filled up.
We had the set menu for 20 € pp with a bottle of Anjou wine. Price/quality is outstanding + very friendly service
I have the oddest feeling I ate here 30 years ago, though I could be wrong. Dinner on Friday evening. Restaurant very quiet and I am told it gets quite a lunchtime following by locals as the menu is pretty much the same as the...evening one but cheaper! That said, price not silly. My wife thought food equal to our local venue which has a Michelin star, so not bad at all. Just under 100 eur for two, though over 40 of that was on wine. hic! Two fixed price menus of 25/29 Euros. Good value.More
This was truly a French eating experience! As part of our cycling day, we booked a lunch reservation here on Bastille day. The food was superb! as was the presentation. The staff was most pleasant. Very good local wine selection. Do not expect to eat...hastily, this dining is to be savored. While the prices were fair- the value was excellent.More
