Never have I been so comprehensively fleeced in a restaurant. I entered the El Phonecian restaurant at Parramatta with high hopes - The decor is smart, elegant and sophisticated with friendly staff. Two of us had the vegetarian platter and my husband added the small sausages to his dinner. Out came one platter of two over cooked felafel, two spinach... More

This great venue is on Church Street in the midst of the restaurant strip. We have been here a few times and always find it a delight. The staff is fantastic, nothing is too much bother and they are very attentive and helpful in advising on the choice of meal. The dips (especially the mixed dish) and bread to start... More

My wife and I had last eaten here some years ago and were anxious to see if the food was as good as it was last time, It was. Elegant table settings with crisp table cloths and napkins matched with good quality glassware. Great ambiance and I particularly liked the locked cabinets holding bottles of spirits kept there by and... More

There are many choices in this part of Parramatta and whilst this may be on the more expensive side compared to its neighbours, the food and service were very, very good.

Seems there are quite mixed reviews here and I can understand why (it must depend on which staff you get ‘assigned to your table’ on the night). We (4 of us) had an OK dining experience here on a warm Saturday night (while it was packed due to the Parramatta Festival running). We had the 'festival banquet', which in essence... More

Went to El-Phoenician as staying locally for business. I had been here many years ago so it's always a good sign that a restaurant is still trading some 7 years after my first visit. It's also nice to go to a restaurant that has a) table cloths and b) proper table napkins that are not made of paper. We went... More

As I was staying just round the corner, this place got flagged up as decent. No surprises there, the food was satisfactory, with the usual Lebanese fare of houmous, skewered lamb and chicken. Pretty good choice of wine, and even though this kind of thing can often backfire on restaurant, their belly dancers were entertaining. Definitely give them a chance... More

It is really hard to find restaurants that are conducive to conducting business over lunch. Too often it's so hard to hear without having to speak loudly. This place is different. It's quiet, and a good distance between other tables means you can talk with a degree of privacy too. The food was excellent fresh and tasty. Linen napkins are... More

We had dinner at El-Phoenician restaurant last week and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The food was wonderful with shaslicks and multiple dips being favoured by our group. The staff were very friendly and helpful, even offering to validate parking for one of our group. A great dinner and will go back again next time in Sydney.
