Whilst travelling down towards Ross on Wye we were looking for a decent place for lunch when we came upon a sign for the Red Hart, located in a lovely village a little out of the way. The pub really exceeded our expectations by a mile. Lovely atmosphere and a nice welcome greeted us in this charming eating place. The... More

I reviewed this Pub on 31st May"Disappointing" and had then promised myself never to return. However i happened to be passing with my mother and stepfather and, to their credit, the management had posted an apology by way of a response. "Let's just stop for a quick drink, surely they can't get that wrong" we said to ourselves. Sharon the... More

Firstly - I am Sharon & I am the landlady, it is evident to me that in both your reviews you have mistaken someone else for me. The lady that served you is my colleague. I am sorry that you didn't enjoy your chocolate, it seems the first one had not enough milk and the second too much. Perhaps we... More

This is our second visit to the Forest of Dean. Just eaten at the Red Hart over the last few days. The pub offers a very varied menu both for meals and bar snacks. On both occasions our reserved table was waiting for us. We were made to feel very welcome. We had to eat in the bar area as... More

This is the first visit to the red hart as we're staying locally on holiday and we were delighted with the service, range of menu options and the quality of our meals last night. So much so that we're going back on Thursday. The wait for our meals wasn't long and was well worth waiting for freshly cooked food. The... More

How nice to visit a pleasant village pub. The Landlady was very welcoming and the staff attentive. The food was of a good quality but the real ales selection was a little disappointing according to Barry. That aside a very enjoyable evening.

First visit here, table booked for 8pm. Arrived at 8pm to be told table wasn't ready. We were served drinks and asked to take a seat in the bar area. We had a quick peek in the restaurant area which was small! After asking if they were running late we were told no, hmmmm that was a fib! A waiter... More

We had lunch here on a Wednesday, there was a lot of choice on the menu and the food was very good. Even my Mum who is a fussy eater enjoyed the food she had battered cod, chips and peas.
