Very disappointed

Tried the steak challenge, I was immediately worried when the chef apparently couldn't cook medium-rare, only either rare, medium or well done, really? If I'm paying £45 for a steak I expect it to be pretty much perfection, what I got was worse than I've had in Weatherspoons! Ordered rare, got... read more

Great event. Staff were outstanding. Scott was brilliant; so attentive, very engaging with everyone. Never being anywhere where the general manager takes the time to listen and give you information about 6 times during the evening. ..outstanding. Cold night played havoc with newly erected marquee but it was handled with style. One negative was main course which wasn't to the... More

Arrived the night before Valentine's, having already been told it was fully booked on that night. Even though it was busy, we got a good table. Great menu with plenty of interesting and unusual dishes, not just the pies. Friendly and attentive staff completed the evening. Definitely recommended, and will visit again if in the area.

Having passed this pub on a few occasions in the past, this time we found ourselves needing a mid-afternoon snack - having missed lunch. We would have settled for a ham sandwich but, on entering the Farmers Boy, what a surprise! Clean, well lit, nice atmosphere, friendly staff & an interesting menu. My partner ordered the Smoked Salmon, Cream Cheese... More

In our party of four we had steak and bri pie, wild boar and cider, steak and stilton and steak and chicken double pie, served with chips and peas. Fabulous meal. Big mouth watering meals - best pies ever. Service was excellent, attentive and friendly staff. Lemon meringue and chocolate fudge cake to die for. The surrounding old pub charm,... More

We went to this cosy pub this evening for a meal. It was a pleasure to step inside the front door into the bar, where there was a log fire burning and a warm, cosy atmosphere. There are a few tables here and more rooms through a doorway beyond, in a network of areas. There is an impressive choice of... More

The quintessentially English pub, friendly, warm and welcoming. We stayed two nights in a lovely room which was spacious and really well appointed. We were made so welcome and treated like friends even though it was our first visit. The food was stunning, it was prepared and presented perfectly and was reasonably priced. We hope to return in the near... More
