Pleasant surprise

A pleasant drive up from Menton. It would take around 30 minutes, but definitely worth the trip. Nice simple interior, and a nicer menu with surprising low prices. Specially recommended is the terrine de canard!

Have eaten here on many occasions over the last few years, always excellent, the menu is always displayed on a black board for you to see...from excellent rabbit to a delicious steak followed by an equally great dessert! Would recommend coming here anytime, have never a a bad meal!

buzzing atmosphere and good value brasserie fare. A great change from the coastal or Italian fare often found locally. Brisk but friendly service and busy but everything works like clockwork. Always busy so book first, on busy days and sundays too lunch sittings.

We had lunch here on the recommend of friends and we certainly were not disappointed. The restaurant is in the old town of La Turbie - not really on the tourist trail, but well worth a visit. The town is situated up in the mountains above Monaco and the views are amazing. The restaurant was very busy and seemed to... More

Near Monaco and with the best views of Monaco, but not at Monaco's restaurant prices. Food, service and atmosphere was very good. Good selection of food. Located in an old Roman village and worth taking a walk through the village afterwards. Popular with locals and Monaco residents. Will recommend and the views whilst driving up or down the mountain is... More

We were recommended this restaurant by French friends and as we were visiting area we booked a table for lunch (crucial to book always). The look of old brasserie style did not impress us, but the menu choices were excellent, short and to the point (not 80 pages long!!) but some 4 menus to select from all delicious and written... Went for lunch with my wife after the concierge of our hotel recommended the place for good local food without glam or glitter. Our experience was all of that and more. The place is really down to earth french and local. No luxury of being in the shadow of Monaco (just 6 km away) but simple tables and chairs, table... More

This place is always packed. I reserved that last table for the evening and sat half in and half out the door on a cool October evening. No matter, the food was delicious and the ambiance made up for everything else. The servers were rushed but still did a good job of taking care of all our needs.

Like it here, trad French bistro, nice setting very down to earth. Wine excellent. Starters really good, puddings outstanding, main courses are always tasty but wouldn't rave. However overall a really fun place to go to - always jammed so book! I will return......

If possible, this earthly delight can be had after working up an appetite by trekking up L'Tete de Chien from Cap d'Ail via Chemin Romain that had an easy switchback trail that swings by the rock climbers and allows a view of Italy. Or drive if time is precious. Be patient with getting a table, worth waiting for.
