Went to Raya based on reviews and it really surpassed our expectations. From the start you know that is going to be a very good meal when you see many local people in the restaurant. Food was really good at a reasonable price, my wife had the prawns spicy salad while I had the pad thai.

Step off the befuddling street into an eye catching wonder of food with flare and the grace of objects made before mass production. If you are staying at a name-brand resort this is a great place to feel and taste some more of Thailand whilst keeping the luxurious feel you desire. Sit next to a fan.

My husband and I ate at raya last night after reading the good review in the lonely planet. It surpassed our expectations in every way. This is maybe my 10th visit to Thailand and the food would rank among the best food I've had in Thailand. We ordered the crab curry, the chicken larb and the phad Thai. Servings were... More

When it comes to Thai dining, I rate this new discovery among my top 3. This very unassuming sino-Portuguese house turned restuarant wedged in between two bigger buildings is a little tough to find with a GPS but once you are there do not be shocked by its simplicity. Pick a table, which might be a missions as it's always... More

Top marks for the food, nothing else mattered really. If it's a unique culinary experience you're after, particularly as a traveller, this is a good place to start. An earlier review pointed out to a "peranakan" influence, which I agree with. Essentially, what this entails is a fusion of the best culinary skills and ingredients of Chinese, Thai and Malay... We ordered the steam pork. It was fatty and succulent. The spices used remind me of the pongteh dishes of Melaka. The fried vegetables with shrimp is amazingly good. The vegetables still crisp. The shrimp is fried so well, we eat them whole chewing off their shells. The shrimp cakes which we ordered are made from fresh shrimps. It is... More

We ordered six items. The only good item was the curry crab. The rest of the stuff was extremely average. I honestly cannot in good faith recommend this place to anyone. It has a nice ambiance but there are much much better places in Phuket. There is a reason it's ranked 63.

One of the best southern Thai-Chinese food I've had. The venue is authentic enough in a old spacious Sino-Portuguese style house.. complete with the ceiling fans. Recommend the liang vegetable fried with dried shrimp, and "moo hong" pork stewed in soy sauce. Must try when in Phuket!

Ok it's an old place. But does one have to put up with spider's webs hanging on the wall or flies in the hall with no air conditioning? A passing look into the kitchen on your way back to your table is also less than reassuring about hygiene standards. Only a few customers seem to be locals who probably visit... More
