If you are staying in Patong, Kata or Kata Noi (or one of the beaches in that area), this restaurant might be a little out of the way. However, you should make it a point to visit it if you are in old Phuket Town. We came here for dinner and one of the first things we've noticed is that... More

We decided to visit old Phuket from the pocket Phuket book, and Raya is written inside as one of the top places to eat. We decided to go for lunch before wandering the old town and we didn't want to leave! So much of the food we have eaten in Phuket is sub standard compared to other parts of the... More

It's hard to believe that finding delicious authentic Thai food in Phuket would be a challenge. After trying a couple places we stumbled upon Raya by accident. We were greeted by the owner who is very friendly and fun to interact with After scouring through a delightful menu of dishes the owner guided us to some authentic Thai dishes that... More

This restaurant should be on every foodie's bucket list when in Phuket. The crab curry with vermicelli noodles is outstanding, and just 300 baht! The restaurant is housed in a sino-portuguese building, which makes for an atmospheric dinner. Staff and service were great. Full marks.

Located in the heart of Chinatown in Old Phuket, Raya restaurant specializes in Chinese Thai cuisine. A friend suggested the place and recommended the Fish in tamarind sauce and crab balls curry. We tried the Fish curry and the Shrimps with broad beans paired with fluffy Thai jazmine rice. Be prepared for a fiery, spicy experience...the broad beans had plump,... More

Went to Raya based on reviews and it really surpassed our expectations. From the start you know that is going to be a very good meal when you see many local people in the restaurant. Food was really good at a reasonable price, my wife had the prawns spicy salad while I had the pad thai.

Step off the befuddling street into an eye catching wonder of food with flare and the grace of objects made before mass production. If you are staying at a name-brand resort this is a great place to feel and taste some more of Thailand whilst keeping the luxurious feel you desire. Sit next to a fan.

My husband and I ate at raya last night after reading the good review in the lonely planet. It surpassed our expectations in every way. This is maybe my 10th visit to Thailand and the food would rank among the best food I've had in Thailand. We ordered the crab curry, the chicken larb and the phad Thai. Servings were... More

When it comes to Thai dining, I rate this new discovery among my top 3. This very unassuming sino-Portuguese house turned restuarant wedged in between two bigger buildings is a little tough to find with a GPS but once you are there do not be shocked by its simplicity. Pick a table, which might be a missions as it's always... More

Top marks for the food, nothing else mattered really. If it's a unique culinary experience you're after, particularly as a traveller, this is a good place to start. An earlier review pointed out to a "peranakan" influence, which I agree with. Essentially, what this entails is a fusion of the best culinary skills and ingredients of Chinese, Thai and Malay...
