What a lovely, warm inviting pub. We had been out for a nice long walk as the weather was so nice and sunny. We called in for a couple of drinks and although only two people in when we arrived soon filled up with diners and lunchtime drinkers. Although we know the area well we had never been in here... Had a Sunday lunch here last Sunday for a party of six. Was fantastic! We had 1 chicken, 2 pork and 3 beef. I personally had the pork and it was fantastic! A big, moist and gorgeous slab of belly pork, massive yorkie pud, steamed veg with fluffy potatoes. Even got a cooked to perfection. Roast parsnip! I give my... More

Beautiful Sunday lunch in shabbily charming village pub. Friendly staff. Dogs are allowed in the bar which is really nice when you are a dog lover. The only thing in my opinion that lets it down is that it could really do with a good clean! Have been a few times and waiting to see when underneath the front windows... More

Real gravy!! Real rubbish!! Don't go unless you want to be insulted by the lady who I assume is the owner and the kitchen staff who both spoke to me like dirt on their shoe. I've never sent a meal back in my life and the first time I take the decision to do that, as the belly pork I... More

Four of us went in for a meal on Sunday tea time.I made the critical error of having a Sunday Roast. It might be good at midday but not at 5.30 in the evening. It had basically been warmed up the microwave, not for very long. My wife wasn't that impressed with her leg of lamb and lumpy mash either.... More

Then look no further than this pub set in a sleepy village opposite a very old church with some history .The village goes back to Roman days we are told, but not the pub thats very much in tune with todays needs.Good food and... Came here for lunch on the way to Ripon. Went to the ladies & was surprised that all bins were full of paper towels at 12 noon but the lounge was fairly empty. We perused the menu & chose steak pie on the recommendation of the staff. Whilst we were waiting had a look around & noticed that the carpet... More

Called today on the way back from North Yorkshire we wanted somewhere off the A1 and we weren't disappointed, we generally give Sunday lunch a miss now because we cook it better and so does Mum! However this was excellent, great beef, pink, tender and plenty of it, huge Yorkshires, crispy roast potatoes, delicious cauliflower cheese and a bowl of... More
