Went for a lunch last Sunday, booked at short notice but they found a table for two. Warmly greeted and seated in the rear restaurant, given menus and drink orders taken in a friendly manner. Good choice of food, we opted for the traditional Sunday lunch for my wife and I had a steak, kidney and mushroom pie with mash and... More

A group of friends joined us today for lunch at this lovely village inn. They had travelled some distance on our recommendation. Naturally we hoped that they would like our choice. We had no need to be concerned, - they loved it! The roast beef was much enjoyed, as was the rump of lamb. The service was attentive but not... More

I love this pub, have been a few times for a drink, and the Guinness is very well looked after but Sunday was the first time I had been for a meal. I was not disappointed, the staff were very courteous and helpful, I didn't particularly like any of the puds as I like traditional sticky toffee and treacle sponge,... More

We arrived with great expectations which unfortunately were not to be realised. We ate in the retaurant which was a little oppressive. We had time to savour the decor as the service was not very quick. The soup and fishcake starters were just ok but the fishcake was overdone on the outside and just warm on the inside. The corned beef hash... We selected The Ship Inn for Sunday Lunch as the reviews were good and they allowed us to take our dog into the pub. We were welcomed upon arrival and were shown to a table in the bar area where we could take the dog and enjoy a meal. Pub was busy and this is always a good sign. The... More

We have just had a family lunch here. The food was very good as was the service which was also courteous, helpful and timely. It was busy, but they managed to fit us in ok in the restaurant. Lovely old-fashioned pub with a real fire etc. lovely and warm on a rather miserable sunday afternoon just after Christmas. Good choice... More

Once again we have experienced a delicious meal at this lovely, small but characterful, traditional village inn. We have visited many times, for a weekday lunch, for a quick bite, for dinner and for Sunday Lunch. We have always been treated with kind and careful attention. The menu is interesting and there is a range of choices to suit the... More

We thouroughly enjoyed the whole experience; from the friendly locals offering advise on menu choice to the excellent food and service we had in the evening.

Good selection of bar meals in pleasant surroundings. Staff were helpful. We walked from our B&B in Boroughbridge in around a quarter of an hour.
