Just better than good!

A bit like reviewer Bri-anT1963, it was quite cold at the table, maybe as you are surrounded by old stone in this quaint countryside pub. Service was excellent and the food was very good, although I thought quite a limited new menu. lovely home made tortillas and proper meat and side dips to... read more

Having eaten here several times over the years 9 of us were looking forward to doing so again. We had a long wait before being seated, a further long wait to get our starters for which the manager apologised and gave us a complementary bottle of wine. There was a further long wait for our main course which was only... More

We ate across two consecutive nights, they were changing menus which made things more interesting. Food and service were both excellent however it was cold, we had to keep our coats on as the fire wasn't lit :(

I really like this place (5 meals now). It has a 'homely' feel and the team are so friendly and the food is great. We both had the £9 steak expecting a small piece of meat maybe of a 'budget' cut, But no !.......A lovely steak - perfectly cooked. I can honestly say, I have paid double this for no... More

After a lovely sunny day of walking we were lucky enough to secure a table at the recently taken over Waldegrave arms. With my partner and a couple of friends we have been long standing fans of this place so were really interested to see how the new owners would take up the challenge of maintaining it's great reputation. Luckily... More

We were looking for somewhere different for lunch, spotted a sign for the pub and decided to give it a try. We weren’t disappointed. A very interesting building with obviously old origins there are several rooms, one with comfy chairs, sofas and a TV and a couple set up for eating, all with open fires. The lunch menu is small... What a wonderful pub restaurant this could be. Lovely setting in a gorgeous Somerset village, a large local community ready and waiting for something spectacular right on their doorstep. I guess they are going to have to wait a little longer. Sadly we can't reinforce any of the points previous reviewers have made about this venue. It may well be... More

We dropped in for a late lunch (2:30pm) yesterday half way through a circular walk. Great welcome, friendly people at the bar, lovely mushroom soup, crispy ciabatta, nice salty butter and a burger to die for. 'Nuff said?

I go when I can for a soup lunch. Since the new owners came, I have really enjoyed the less cluttered surroundings, the sense of calm and well laid tables, and three out of four of the soups have been what I can only describe as stunning, so much so that I could have had a second bowl. The only... More

This Pub/ Restaurant serves the very best Sunday Roast we have ever tasted, aside from this the rest of there menu is the best we have had, I certainly recommend it to any one But don't go to quickly as I want to save it for me and my Family.
