I have eaten here a couple of times both as a bar snack and at a function. I have consistently been underwhelmed. As the only pub in the village that serves food and such a lovely village, you would think they would up t he game and provide great food. Unfortunately the quality of ingredients appeared low budget and there... More

The review posted by me yesterday was from another computer and should have had my tag of Ducky098. But having said that I suppose the thing that annoyed me most was the fact that when told that the steak pie was substandard, and the staff confirming that the steak was not good and that would be using another butcher from... Ducky88 I have just return from a trip to Lincolnshire, and a meal at the Sun Inn at Saxilby. To start with we couldn't get our 1st meal, as the fish hadn't been, not their fault. However the replacement meal "Steak & Ale pie" was to say they least disgusting. I am not sure where the prime cut of steak... More

A village pub that is probably struggling to keep going, served a typical Sunday lunch that was nevertheless good value at £5. A choice of Pork, Beef or Chicken or Steak and Ale Pie. This was followed by a tasty apple pie and custard with alternatives of syrup or chocolate puddings with ice cream or custard. Saturday Night's live band... More

Had 'The Sun' recommended to us, and, when you arrive you wonder if it's going to be all that's was said, as, the place itself is in places, in need of a but of a refurb. However, needn't have worried, had a great Sunday lunch which was excellent food, we'll presented and with really friendly and attentive service. Excellent value... More

Fantastic food, all home made and just packed with flavour. Big (but not so huge it's wasted) portions at a reasonable price and with very friendly staff makes for a perfect local to me!!

I came in a few weeks ago just passing through with my wife while on the way back to Sheffield and I thought I would just stop off go to the toilet and go for a drink. When I entered the pub I felt a very homely feel and family atmosphere, it wasn't busy so it was very quiet, me... More

Good service, simple and reasonable food and nice beer on two consecutive days. Just didn't tick all the boxes.

My wife and I were teenagers at Saxilby, grew up there, met there, married from there, way back in the 1960´s. To celebrate our Golden Wedding year we planned to leave our retirement home in Spain and arrange a meeting with as many old, (well OK , "long term" ), friends as possible. But where to find a suitable place... More
