Some friends and I had wanted some steak and ale pie and knew this pub served it. So we stopped in for a visit. What a wonderful old place! Not gaudy or trendy, just a solidly British traditional pub. Most of us had the pie, and one had the spaghetti. It was all very good, with good gravy for pouring.... More

I've eaten here a number of times of the past few years and never had a bad meal. The fish and chips, the steak, and the curry are all first rate. Desserts are wonderful (tonight's plum crumble was especially good.) The atmosphere is also top notch, with a real traditional pub feel. David is a gem and the staff is... More

I ordered the Steak and Ale pie, my partner had the Ham, Egg and Chips. The Pastry on the steak pie was burnt on the top and the "encased pastry" underneath was doughy and not cooked. The chips were undercooked and raw in the middle. I was offered a choice of Vegetables or Peas, I asked for the Peas but... More

This is not a spanking new gastro-pub but a traditional English pub & thankfully I doubt if the ringing of the microwave bell will ever permeate the atmosphere. £50 for two main meals, accompanied by several large(ish) glasses of wine & soft drinks. We had a mixed grill & mushroom risotto. Partner was very happy with quality of his food.... More

Four of us enjoyed a lovely meal last night ,could have been in top class venue, young ladies serving us were very friendly ,attentive ,fast service but not hurried, nice surroundings , will be returning soon. They have got the price right lots of pubs are just up themselves with high prices ,but still a pub ,very good luck to them.

We had a terrible drive from Kent to Attleborough causing us to be an hour late for an appointment. We set off on our return journey at 2.45 hoping to be able to get some lunch but not holding out too much hope. We saw the pub by chance and stopped to investigate, what a surprise! We were greeted by... More

After a day’s decorating my wife and I could not be bothered to cook so we popped to The White Lodge for a meal. Probably one of the best decisions we could have made. The meal was perfect, I had the slow cooked belly pork and my wife had the tuna steak (both from the day’s special menu.) The portions... More

Lovely old world pub. Very friendly staff. Food was excellent good size portions and fast service. I can highly recommend the home carved ham eggs and chips with nice side salad the slice of ham was as thick as a gammon steak, was sorry when I had finished it. Reasonably priced too at £9.95 will be going again.

Have been now here a few times. Great place for a drink and a chat with the barman and locals. The restaurant does have great food. yesterday evening i had the Sirloin steak with pepper corn sauce, it was fabulous.

We took our grand-daughter out for a meal. We all had something different. I think my one complaint would be that the home-made chips and onion rings were not quite crispy enough (slightly too much fat used - not drained properly) but still very tasty.
