Was bought a Groupon voucher for my birthday and after a few attempts we finally managed to make a booking arriving on Sunday morning 31st August looking forward to a relaxing weekend. First impressions were okay, nice location although hotel looking a little tired. Checking in was a nightmare, nobody on reception, rang the bell and after 10 mins a... More

Been a local bar for many years, fairly recently refurbished to a nice homely standard. Food is good pub grub, not fancy but good. Quiz on a Sunday night, nice place as a drop in, probably not for the extra special occasion but nice

We decided to visit friends in Durham a day or so before attending a wedding in Darlington and so the Chilton seemed an ideal place to stay, just 10mins from Durham but in a quiet location. Our stay coincided with a coach party from Scotland but that had little effect as we were not in the hotel that much. First... More

We often visit the Chilton on a Saturday late afternoon but one of the staff is not very friendy at all, I object to be asked what I would like to drink by a nod of the head, no please or thank you, surely she must be chasing customers away with an attitude like that. She doesnt have any manners... More

Went here with the family and a few of the in-laws to celebrate my nieces birthday. There was about 16-20 of us and the restaurant manager kindly kept us all together in one section of the restaurant. Food selection was really good and the service was prompt but not overly hurried. Drinks were brought to our tables when required, I... More

Ate here a couple of weeks ago with the in laws and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a Wednesday night so wasn't packed but there were a few other tables in. Order was taken quickly and food took about 10-15 mins. It was all homemade and fresh. We ordered steak pie, pulled pork burger, hunters chicken, and mushroom and broccoli... More

Booked a Groupon for a midweek afternoon tea with my Mother. It was quite possibly the worst thing I have eaten in my life. Asked what sandwich we would like was met with 'whatever, just normal sandwiches'. I asked for ham...there was none. Settled for beef that was as dry as sticks and presented in cheap white bread. Cakes had... More

We have visited here a few times for various celebrations & lunch; it has lovely surroundings, staff & food. Always welcomed in a professional & friendy manner, the prices make this establishment one we will visit again!

Stayed here with my family. Really liked this place can't understand why anyone would give it a bad review. We had a clean modern comfortable room, a lovely tender rib eye steak with home made chips for our evening meal, very tasty and a delicious full English breakfast. The food was plentiful. The staff were delightful friendly people who went... More

The food here is excellent and great value for money. Good portions to say the least and also the "chips" are hand cut if that what you want. A good menu selection and they do have "themed" evenings Monday to Thursday when order two meals get a drink / bottle free. An excellent friendly service too.
