A lovely old inn where even the locals feel at home. Staff were friendly and efficient. I had 8oz sirloin steak, my partner the 12oz rump, we could not fault it, along with 3 sides and a couple of soft drinks and a coffee However, for a lunch rather on pricey side, £54. A clean and well run establishment deserving... More

I have visited the pheasant, a local inn where I live in the outskirts of Hillsborough , some 10-12 times over the past 4 years with family and friends mostly. The past three visits with my wife and/or my family have been a shambles of an experience to say the least. Steaks over cooked and dry, excessive waiting times for... More

Lovely meal - pleased to see a dedicated vegetarian menu. If I were on death row, my last meal would have to include The Pheasant's chocolate and pecan pie with maple and walnut ice cream - absolutely out of this world!

Went for a meal recently on a Friday evening. I had been a couple of years ago and the service wasn't great but things have definitely improved. Food was as good as ever and service was excellent. Pity the steak platter wasn't available as it was a Friday but the menu was still varied and reasonably priced. You won't be... More

We picked here today for a change and we were accommodated last minute in the bar area, our food was lovely, we were two adults and one child, the roast beef was lovely, my daughters pasta was really good sized portion and my partner had supreme of chicken which he thoroughly enjoyed. We haven't been here for a long time... More

My husband and I went for lunch today as we've been before and had good food. It's a lovely country pub with a traditional feel and we had a nice table near the open fire. The starters were good but not excellent. I had the calamari and hubby had the pork terrine, I usually go for seafood, but I have... More

Another pleasant evening tonight in The Pheasant with my wife and children. We had a £20 two-person steak platter with a starter and 2 sides. We also benefited from their 'kids eat free' deal tonight because it is midweek. Couldn't be bettered for families! We have had 8 or 10 very good meals in The Pheasant over the past two... More

We dined with friends at The Pheasant and found the service slow and the food not on a par with The Plough at Hillsborough which is a sister restaurant. The steak was not very well cooked and my wifes was very tough and sent back. Would not dine there again but would go to the Plough as only ever had... More
