Good food, not particularly friendly

We had the menu at 42euro. Food was superb, beautifully presented. It all arrived quite quickly, but the staff were not very friendly or helpful, seemed quite arrogant, even though we do speak some French. The real downside were the toilets which were in the basement, which was damp & musty... read more

Right . . . We were invited out for a meal and wanted to delight our friends with (hopefully) the best Limoux has to offer. My husband made the reservation over a week before to which the response was a palpable fear down the end of the phone with regard to preparing food for VEGETARIANS. - something along the lines... The chef here cooks so artistically and with such clean flavours. All produce is locally sourced and provenance is of the utmost importance. Dining in either the elegant dining room or outside on the walled terrace is always a joyous epicurean adventure.

Superb food , good value and great service.Spent 3 weeks in this area and this was one of our best dinners- Visited this restaurant in July, initial appearances were quite off putting situated in a run down looking hotel beside Les Halles in Limoux. Seated in terrace area again quite shabby and run down. V surprised by food more expensive... More

We had the "cheapest" menu at 29 Euros and were very pleasantly surprised. The appetizer was a fresh and cool mixture of little pieces of tomato and cucumber gazpacho sauce, delicious. Then we had fish (cabillaud) that was extremely well prepared and seasoned with delicious potatoes. Meat was also tasty, a type of boeuf braisé but 100 times better. The... More

We had been enjoying fantastic meals at Tantine et Tonton since it first opened; however, it has gone up in price and down in both quality and presentation in the last 2 years. Perhaps they are focusing more on their bistro in La Place de la Republique. For the first few years, there were 3 menus to choose from plus... More

Although we booked for lunch at the last minute, we found the staff very friendly and accommodating. We all had a set menu and really enjoyed our meal. The food was freshly prepared, and well presented, with some unusual combinations of ingredients and flavours. Good value.

Amuse bouche was creme fraiche with peas onions dried and sprinkled with poured asparagus soup- amazing flavor. 2 fish Smoked Haddock for start w burrata cheese amidst tiny radish thins greens and toasted bread garnish Main Filet of bar (sea bass) Delicious... Having heard great things about this restaurant, and experienced excellent food and value with weekday lunches at their Carcassonne establishment, we were excited to go for a special Saturday lunch in Limoux. What a disappointment! Most of the courses were nondescript and tasteless, though very rich, while the main course, fillet de lieu noir, was incredibly salty. We had already... More

We really enjoyed our lunch - the flavour combinations were creative with a slight mid east/nth African influence in the preserved lemons served with the roast chicken and the hummus seasonings with the cod. The portion size was perfect for lunch and the ability to choose an entrée+plat or entrée+plat+dessert suits us as we often can only fit in a... More
